    Ian.

Two major factors are, It loops absolutely dead straight and not an inch of interaction.

And me being Mode 1 I have done the most perfect barrel rolls ever due to this system today.

    Hope this helps.

Try doing some precision manouevres close to the ground - ignore the power, do it smoothly, I'm interested to know if it's difficult to be precise down low like the other flybarless systems. Most of the problems on the other systems (except vBar) were that they had no inbuilt tail gyro so I expect this to be better but on every system I've tried there was always a sense that it wasn't doing 'exactly' what you wanted.

I'm going to get one to have a play on anyway, just curious...

You know I'm really pleased the Align system is performing well. It makes me feel a little less crazy for really liking my v-bar

Thanks for the info Tim - and nice flying once again!

I fitted and set up a unit on my 600 at the field on Saturday afternoon.
Sadly, the light faded too quickly and I only managed to get two half-tank flights on it before dark stopped play.
I have mounted the sensor unit on the front gyro plate on the 600 (above the cyclic servos) and only used a single pad. I have a feeling that I might need to use pad - plate - pad instead, or possibly move the sensor to the back of the heli. There might be a wire length issue with moving to the back of the heli though, not checked so not sure).

Popped mine up into a hover, and once I'd set the gyro reversing properly, it was super stable. No tendencies when getting light on the skids that I noticed - no tilting etc.

I had a slight elevator wobble going on, which I suspect is gain related - so I landed, tweaked the elevator gain pot down a small faction and tried again. It was better, but not perfect. I haven't had chance to tweak further as yet.

It tracked perfectly straight in normal forward flight, and went straight round on a huge loop.
Tail gain was set too high at the mid point between suggested settings in the manual (65%) so on the exit of the huge loop the tail went off on one wagging violently.
I flew out of that and then carefully brought the heli back in to land (as the light had pretty much gone by now and I was struggling to see it at all!).

Sunday was a non-flying day for me as there was an AHA committee meeting on, so next saturday I will continue my testing

I have a good feeling about this, currently
          Cheers,

Just managed to see the video of you flying Tim.. And i have to say, i love those piro maneuvers you're doing!! especially that big piro loop (if that whet its called).. Very smooth!

Then i read through the thread and thought.. Oh No!!! Its making me have thoughts i don't want to have.. FBL sound really good (plus the heli looks the part as well

I'll just have to repeat to myself that i'm not ready for this yet..
You don't need a FBL heli Mo.. You're not ready Mo!! (over and over and over)..

I've had Vbar for months its only now that Align has bought the 3G out that FBL is a "must have"

Its all good as FBL is more "accepted" now

thanks tim, i tried an early v.bar unit and couldnt get on with it, this sounds alot easier to set up, its a shame you cant buy the unit only...

I must add that two weeks ago I hadn't any interest what so ever in FBL for one reason only.

We have a guy Simon (Fireball on the forums) who fly's with us and has a Mikado Vbar system on his T-Rex600 heli and I have seen more problems with him trying to get it flying ok and having to give up because he hasn't had a laptop with him to adjust the parameters at the field.

I like to go to the field.... Start my heli up and fly.

Since Align brought this "Plug n Play" 3G system it looked very appealing so what the hell lets try it.

                      Its bloody great.

                        OK Mr Busterboy

If you don't enter 3D champs this year I will enter for you I can't believe how much you have come on!

If flybarless does that for you then you need to convert all your helis.
