Had one fail today on one of my 600's today. This one has the Align metal tail grips.

Saw the grip/ blade departing as it got batted by a main blade. Hit Hold sharpish but as the headspeed reduced the imbalance threw the tail gear box of the end of the boom!

This is my 2nd bolt failure the other was on my Trex 700 in Sept

Damage tail blades/ Torque Tube/main blades and possibly a mainshaft

Both paul,you know how much slop is in the thrusts,mix that with a stiff non flexing metal grip you get saucered washers and worse still,what Tim,Barney and Matty have,bolt head snappage

Doh.. Guess who has just bought metal grips!

I hate being a sucker for shiny stuff, as the plastic grips worked faultlessly.

Align ones.. Was hoping the bolts were the issue.

Oh dear...well,you have plenty of warning here on this forum m8,its your choice...im NOT flying mine till ive either got a quick tail of plastic grips.

Im driving past Quick UK in the morning so looks like £40 of my birthday money will be spent....along with a gallon of heli blood

My grips have play in them too, for metal items they should be spot on

thats 5 people we know of out of 000's.

I got new bolts to try as I had these on my last 700 with no issues.

Will see how that goes but yes it is not good to hear this happening.

James,im putting it down to the thrusts,metal grips and high performance of todays gyros

I will try and get a pic of the washer and im no hardcore 3d whizz

Mix the 3 together then think of the bashing that little ole bolts are getting getting

The slop in the thrusts is the heli killer IMO....fine,with say,a 401

My 401 was not harsh on stops,infact it was slow

Sweet,found some plastic grips in my box of goodies that Sqeaky gave me with the heli

Im not waiting for this to happen,im shutting the stable door now

One failure was with the plastic grips..so either its a design or bolt issue. I have/had QUK grips on other machines and even these have a small amount of side to side float but dont have the cumulative airtime to say whether its a cure either.

Although the Quick UK tail is slop free when new, mine very quickly became more sloppy than the standard Align tail.

Ive got 12.9 grade bolts Barney,ive lost 2 tails in my short time for different reasons,not gonna make it a third,if i can help it

Its the shape of these washers thats spookin me,they are all dead flat on my plastic tails on the other 600.If they were'nt so darn small id take a pic,when put on a flat surface they wobble!!!!!!
