I think they wanted to put the hole on the outside at first like the 600 Tony but then they realised that without a fuel magnet there was fueling issues. Probably cheaper to bung it than change the mould
having said that it works well for me as I dont like refilling through a fuel magnet so I use the other hole as a fill
Its a bad idea to drill holes in a fuel tank. It makes for very short flight times.
Usually they provide moulded nipple like things that you can push tubes onto, and a bigger hole that you can put a rubber bungy thing in.

Dont spend more flying models than it costs to fly for real
No idea, but I use the outer hole with a header so no probs there.
yeah,i know tom burgess uses the outer hole with a fuel magnet with no header and his is fine so maybe it is just to offer a different and more accesible hole or is there another reason for it?
the manual doesnt suggest that either can be used

i cant remember how youve got yours set up tom,is your magnet still fitted on the inner hole and the outer hole is used to fill or is the magnet fitted to the outer hole?

magnet is on the outside, fill on the middle. no header
It also has you put the fuel tube on and the tank in after the frames are together and this is a nightmare.
Using the outer hole the clunk is no where near able to get all over the tank thats why I use got a header on mine.
Never used a magnet though.
yeah tell me about it i changed my clunk tube to hayes a while back and what an arse of a job it was!
i can see how you could use the outer hole with a magnet but could i could get away with using the outer hole with a bubbless clunk and a header?
using an os 90 by the way
