700LE wonky tail

On Robs post of the FBL the tail is wonky,my m8 had the same thing with his,it wasnt cos he set it up wrong,its cos the boom slot and tail hole were out of line.Think he made the tail pin hole oval to get a straight tail in the end,anyone else get this with their 700 boom?

I've had this issue on my 500 but only on aftermarket (clone) parts. Align stuff has alway been good for me.

To fix mine I filed the slot in the main frame end of the boom a little wider rather than effecting how the tail unit was attached.

IMO, the 10 mm recommendation from the manual for the rudder servo arm is also too short. It doesn't give enough pitch range, IMO.

The carbon booms are drilled wrong. I had a very early standard kit back in November 08 I think it was and mine was the same. It can be fixed by elongating the hole for the plastic tailcase pin, rotating the boom and then tightening the tailcase at perpendicular. I also pinned my tailcase and it has been fine for over a year

As posted in the other thread, my aluminium boom (700LE) is also not drilled straight.

Yep...same on my 700LE aswell.....just mod the tailbox location hole a little...

Hey All,

It's my 700 with the wonky tail casing

I just setup a 700LE tonight and it to has a wonky tail gearbox and so it must be a bad batch of tail booms.
I did try to remove my boom from the frame boom clamp end but it wasn't easy and I didn't want to disturb the model too much, the tail gearbox way sounds the easiest route for anyone wanting to rectify an already built machine.

i would have thought align would have fixed this by now
they've had long enough
maybe there not to aligned with the problem or is it just the qc dept on holiday again
it makes me glad i sold my 700 very shortly after i bought it

mines the same although only very slightly but it doesnt seem to effect the heli so ill leave the mod until the enevitable boom replacement
