  • Main shaft

My 700 developed a bit of a wobble on spool up, so I checked my main shaft, the usual way, rolling on a piece of glass, although its a bit more difficult because of the collar, it does appear to be very slightly bent. Not sure how this happened, the worst I have done is have a heavy landing, and broke a strut.
I have seen a couple of post's saying not to over tighten the "jesus bolt"
I have always tightened mine as much as I can, why is this wrong, I would have thought the tighter the better, I dont want that head flying off!

How tight should it be ?

The main shaft on my 600NSP was also bent. Musta been that way out of the box I reckon.

I never tighten my Jesus bolt that tight as it has a nyloc nut. Just nip it up (about one white knuckle). This is more important not to over-tighten on the main gear end as, if it's over tightened, it may distort the autorotation tail drive gear.
