  • 600 LE Clutch

I started a thread over on helifreak a while back on this subject 600LE clutch - HeliFreak

Seems quite a common issue. Anyone else found that their 600LE's (or recent Pro, NSP or Sport) clutch takes a while to engage? My motor is screaming by the time the clutch engages

Strange, guy's over the pond seem to be getting it a lot. Mine was a very early kit so maybe it has been addressed. Think I will stick a Quick UK clutch in it and see where I go from there.

I've had a clutch break up but not screaming as starts to engage. In normal mode clutch should engage by 3rd of stick travel by mid stick should be fully engaged ready to take off.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

As ever, there's usually a few vocal people who make things look like a bigger problem than they actually are

Not saying it's not a huge problem , but we have to gauge it based on number of people reporting it versus a guess at the number of kits out there?

If you've got the issue mate, go for a Quick UK clutch as we know they're good!

I'm curious what the air-gap between clutch and liner is on the kits with problems?
          Cheers,

I upped the Governor on one of my NSP and the clutch broke inflight
now I am scared to up it again.
I have been thinking of uping it again to try and get it in the power band better.
Just using standard gov on a specktrum dx7 using 95%
            with a os 50 hyper
what is every one else running?

Mine engages quite high, but don't see it as an issue, as long as it doesn't fail it flight, my velocity was the same way too

A guy at our field just built a 600le and a couple of us who fly 600's noticed his high revs needed to engage the clutch...... Strange.....

We suggested he took the clutch out and clean it with brake cleaner...he did and it is now perfect.....

Not looked at the gap as I didn't see it as an issue when building. Iv'e still been flying it, I just thought it was strange.

James, this thing is on the gov by the time it starts to spool up

Think I will just fix it when it gives in

Clutch #1 broke on my NSP after about 3 months.....I then fitted a new clutch along with a Raptor 90 liner (abit thicker) and the clutch has been fine for over a year with 100+ flights on it.....

never had a problem with align clutches, hoping if I get a break in the weather to give the LE its first outing this weekend. will have to take note of this one.

Setup the governor on it last night, although for running in and setting up the curves won't be using it. just started snowing here again as I write this, that could put a crimp in my plans for tomorrow lol
                        All the best

Yes,mine too....at first i thought the clutch was dieing but on inspection it was all new looking....On my 600n it bites nearly straight away, both engines os 55s...so something on the clutch bell must be slightly different??
