  • 600le going nitro!!

Can't believe I'm going nitro after all i've said about them but the stick time and costs have changed my mind....plus everybody seems to be getting one.

So being a sparky my knowledge is a bit limited at the mo.few basic questions first.......how many flights will i get from one gal ?......mild 3d 10 min ?

A few build questions..........finless didn't like his fuel tubing for his clunk did you use stock? and did you balance your motor fan in the same way.

Any advise or things to watch out for will be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

A 5 litre bottle of Opti will fill your 450cc tank 11 times, roughly. And depending on your type of flying - me, I am just sport plopping - headspeed etc, you will get anything between 6 and 12 minutes.

My stock clunk line failed after about 6 months so it might be worth replacing.

I wouldn't say that balancing the fan is essential by any means. I did check mine though and it was spot on.

'Not sure what the capacity of the tank is on the Raptor and Ely.Q but I know I'm getting more than 10 minutes (but I am generally flying very mild, circuits and hovering etc. and rarely using full throttle).

I'll have to time one of my flights next time as I tend to just look for when the tank gets low.

(I'll have to start using the timer for the Robbe's as they have the tank up front and you can't see it in the air really).

I think a mix of electric and nitro helis gives you the most options, but right now I wouldn't want an electric bigger than the 450, but never say never.

To me electric is 'the dark side'. There's something more 'organic' and friendly about an engine but electric is a bit mysterious and scary sometimes, IMHO.

£45 a batt with my T500 thats not bad..........vast improvement from paying over £100.

As you say having both gives you the best options.

Yeah it's definitely getting better and has actually made me think again about the bigger electrics but at the moment I am quite happy with the 450 for smaller spaces or impromptu flying that wouldn't be practical for a nitro or a bigger heli and then if I am going to the field to fly something bigger I love not having to worry about charging a bunch of LiPos. (I have to travel by train when I go flying so I would not be able to bring as much stuff as some do, like field chargers and car batteries etc.)
