Remove Fan Hub off OS 50 Motor

Hi Guys

I Was wondering if any of you know how to remove an old thunder tiger raptor FAN HUB off a OS 50 SX-H(R) Hyper nitro engine, I have removed the crank nut which holds the fan hub to the engine, but I cannot shift the fan hub, it appears to be seized in. Any idears would be most welcome

Have you locked the crank off?

You need to lock the crank somehow, preferably the crank tool recommended. I use a length of nylon rod up the inside of the crank and then bring the con rod round to bear on it. You can buy a tool for the hub which fastens using 2 cap heads but instead you can wind 2 longer cap heads in so they have a full nuts worth of threads in and then use a 6 or 8 allen key as a lever diagonally between them.

I use the handle of a plastic toothbrush and remove the backplate & jam the handle under the conrod. Then unscrew the fan. Opposite to tighten.

I use an old toothbrush handle as well.

If you are not bothered about the fan, then put some heat on the hub of the fan in case it has been put on with loctite. I had this before with an engine I bought.

thanks lad, sprayed the fan hub with silicone oil left it to soak for half an hour then managed to uscrew it.
