Is it worth buying a set of RC Screwz for my 600 & 700le build?

Rather than the RC Screwz set, just buy these for both the 600 and 700 LE. You will also need some M3 bolts to use with them (10mm will be fine).

    Fast Lad Performance

For the 600LE, you only need 12 - 15 CNC washers for the bearing mounts and clutch assembley as they use the same cheese bolts as the 700.

For the 700 LE you need about 24 as there are quite a few cheese bolts to replace.

There is nothing worse than building a machine and then having to dremel a standard align bolt as they strip so easily. Yes, there aer vaious ways of getting round it with, less loctite, heating up, different tools etc. but no point when you can use this upgrade. Only downside is price of the little washers, but worth it in time saved at the field and no stress!

    Hope this helps.

I'm building a 700LE at the moment and have bought 20 of the washers mentioned above. Fast Lad told me to get 13mm bolts though which are a fraction too long so I had to shorten all the bolts with a dremel. 10mm bolts sound about right I'd say. The only issue though is that the 2 ball links going up to the swash are being fouled by the bearing block M3 bolt heads as they stand a lot taller than the standard kit bolts so it looks like they will need to be filed down -has anyone else had this problem?

RC Screwz is the biggest waste of £20 I ever spent Arwel.

Do as Matt says above, Much better option.

Yes, this is indeed a problem. You can get round it with a dremel though and carefully round off the M3 bolt where it fouls (on both sides). Just make sure you leave enough 'head' on it.

I've actually just decided to use the kit collar bolts in those two locations -hope I don't live to regret it! If these bolts are identical to the 600N then hopefully I'll be fine as I never actually had a problem with them on my 600.

By the way, I think the total count of collar bolts on the 700 is closer to 40 than 24 so if you do all of them it's not particularly cheap at about 35 quid by the time you've bought 4 packs of washers and new M3 bolts.

Come to think of it, c. 35 is correct, but for the sake of £50, it really is a neccessary upgrade. The TREX 700 is a cheap 90 in comparison with others on the market so it really is a no brainer for the time you save in dremelling, swearing and regret!

Yes we all had this problem.

I now use 4 Align cheesy bolts (2 each side) but don't threadlock those.

Not common practice I know but I've never had any come loose yet.

Its the over-use of threadlock on those bolts that makes them even harder to remove, Not sticking in the threaded area but around the flange.

And remember folks, You don't want your bolt stuck in the flange cos its hard to get out..

I used the Lirons Heli Products kit for the Trex 600/700 the kit has sholdered washers to use instead of the sholder button head screws that Align supply. I also used a RC Screwz kit and replaced all align screws during the build of my 600, it was costly nut I know that the Screws will come out everytime.
