  • Play in tail blade grips on 700 le ?

Hi guys this may sound a stupid question but is it normal for a bit of sideways play in the tail blade grips on my new 700 le . I have double checked every thing is in right and tight it just seems a lot of play maybe thats normal ?.

Hi yes its normal on most of the Align range, in flight the centifugal force pulls the grips out and takes up the slop, the theory i belive is its easier on the TT gears and tail in general as it softens the stops slightly, some feel it is excessive play, i did on my 500 so you can file down the centre hub by a SMALL amount to reduce the amount of play i would not advise you to remove it completely though like many things its there for a reason

hi most tail grips have the side play also due to them having thrust bearings installed this kind up setup is much better as they can handle much more force and and a higher rpm. the play does go when the heli is flying so this is normal.
