What regulator are you using on your 600?

I was alsmost convinced i was going to go with the SGP ReactorX but I've since read some reports of vibration causing solder joints to fracture. I haven't ruled out using the Align 2 in 1 but I was hoping to use my SwitchGlo. It seems whatever product you look at there is always gonna be good and bad reviews. Has anybody been able to find a neat sollution to fit the ElyQ regulator on the Trex 600?

The majority of problems are related to poor installs where the products are subjected to vibrations/fuel ingress.
Personally I dont like the the Ely-Q/Reactor designs etc as they use extra cables to connect to them up almost doubling the no of servo plugs. The 2 in 1 has been very good overall. The Fromeco Arizona is another very good reg although expensive compartes to Align etc. I dont like the add on Pin flag switch option but instead hard wire a standard switch as its easy to pull the pin flag out in the car potentially cooking your servos.
I rewire the Align 6amp BEC's myself adding an extra plug onto the RX end and changing to quality cabling so it inputs into two ports on the Rx.

The flight tech 8A unit is a simple linear regulator that has a pass through capability. If the voltage of the flight pack falls below what you have set the output voltage then the voltage is passed through. It will not cut out. It has two input leads designed for connecting to the flight power rx battey but I just join the wires together on a single deans connector. It has two output leads to connect to the receiver. It uses a failsafe switch so whe the switch is open the regulator is on. It has pretty LEDs for battery voltage monitor. It has a monitor lead/charging lead so you can put an 8 ball checker on it to see the state of charge of the battery. It has an adjustable output voltage from nothing to the voltage of the lipo connected, although the instructions say 5 to 6 volts that part is incorrect.
And lastly it will fit on one side of the t-rex 600 radio mount at the front.

Have an align in my 600 and a ElyQ in my 700. both have been fine so far, the main advantage of the align is the onboard glowRob

I used an Align in my 3D when I had it and it worked fine all the time I had it. I had a ReactorX as well but read the horror stories, took it to bits and looked then got shot of it pronto
No longer have any Nitros so don't use any Regs apart from the Herc on my 500 I guess...

Was that the V2 ReactorX or the V1? I wondered if they'd changed the design for the V2 model?
I've put the ElyQ on ebay otherwise i'm gonna end up with loads of regulators and only one heli, hopefully someone will get a bargain. Think i'll keep the Align 2in1 as a spare and get either the Arizona or ReactorX, from what i've read the reactorX should be okay as long as its well dampened against vibrations although the breaking solder joint issue does worry me a bit.Last edited by TorqueTube; 13-12-2009, 06:35 PM.
