  • 700LE -Any upgrades necessary?

After much deliberation and searching for the right deal, finally sold my 600N and have a 700LE on the way so will probably start building it later this week. I'm just wondering if I need to upgrade anything on it? Seems like the early issues have been sorted but just want to do a double check. I certainly don't want to spend anymore cash unnecessarily but should I do any of the following (or anything else) or am I ok to keep it stock?

    Quick UK links (expensive!)
Rocket links (Cheap but do these even fit the standard Align balls?)
    Quick UK clutch
    Metal clutch block
    Replace the stock clunk tubing
Replace the frame bolts with these CNC washers:
    Fast Lad Performance
-if so what size bolts do I need to order?

Suggestions for a throttle servo and any other advice are welcome.

    Thanks.

Just reading your post I started wondering if the alledged links problem when the 700's first came out was still a problem with up to date kits.

Align never on the surface to acknowledge there was any problem, just wondered if in the background changes had been made.

the only none metal part on the 600LE is the tail control crank, dont know if its the same on the 700LE or not.
    All the best
    Tony.

I thought the 600LE had a plastic clutch bearing block, like the 700LE? I've seen some people citing the plastic clutch block as a cause of main gears stripping.

And yes, I was also wondering if Align had changed the links in some way without making any announcement about it as there seem to be less people complaining about them now. That's why I want to know whether I really ought to waste £35 on a Quick UK link set?

yes it has ive not got an 600LE but a mate has and Ive had a play with it and I like it, very tight machine unlike my old one.

Im very mush fancying another 700 and if my Velocity sells I'll aim for the 700LE

Get the Align screws replacement, Complete kit from Li ron

And the metal clutch block too.

As for the links they were sorted by the time I got mine last November.

          Nothing else needed.

After building the http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/align-...260-600le.html I would love a 700LE now

So Ben, you'd be happy about using the stock clutch then?

Yeah I've seen the Liron kit mentioned. The only problem is that it's bout of stock and takes a while to ship anyway so it would delay the proceedings a bit. Anybody got any comments on the CNC washers from Fast Lads as an alternative? Or anyone know of a UK shop with the Liron kit actually instock?

Im using the washers along with JR bolts no complaint from me.

but then im also only using the standard clutch and block etc. again no problems so far for me, I said if I get one stip as I believe can happen even with the new block in it, then I would think about changing, mines over a year old now and its still got the origional main gear in it.

Yep fine, had the same clutch for that time and still in good condition when I sold it.

Same as the main gear no issues.

Dont worry, just get it,build it,fly it and love it,that you will for sure

Sesame -don't suppose you remember how long the bolts need to be? I don't have my kit yet but the collar bolts are described in the manual as 8mm M3 but I guess they might be different length to normal bolts due to the collar so I'm thinking maybe I would need to get something longer than 8mm? Any idea?

My thoughts are to get the CNC washers/bolts and the metal clucth block and leave everything else as standard.

Gave Fast Lad a call and they reckon 14mm M3's will do the job.

I own 3 T-Rex 700s two of them being the LE version.

Other than ditching the cheesy Align screws that come with the kit my models are totally stock and work fine out of the box.

It goes without saying I fly mine every weekend Saturday and Sunday and have not suffered any mechanical problems as yet.

My older 700 which I bought from Matt Long is the older version again running stock and actually stripped a main gear on Saturday, A known problem we have all heard about.

The upgraded MOD 1 gear solves that problem, The 700LE versions come standard with that upgrade.

Sorry Busterboy but owning 3 700's is just absurdly excessive (although when I first bought a TRex 450 I couldn't figure out why anybody could possibly want more than one heli and I've since gone through TRex's 250, 500, 600N, soon to be 700LE and an SJM430). Come on though, 3 700's -that's just silly.
