You want to get those autos naled before you try one with the 500. The 500 will have 1/4 of the hang time the 700 has!
It was actually my 600, not the 700, but I know what you mean about the 500. I saw a friend try it one day, and it was pretty fierce when he had to bail out and the motor kicked back in.
I think I will leave that for a little while.

What I aim to do is to practise at least one auto every time I fly, it was a couple of months ago I last practised and it took a few tanks today to get the "feel" back.

Trent has a similar prob with his 500.He cant explain it but its all over the show for no reason.

As for doing autos with the 500 either have them nailed as said already or disable the soft start

I'd leave the soft start on becuase even running a fairly large pinion I've managed to strip some main gears spinning up on the ground.
With the std ESC, if you start it spinning, slow it down and then speed it up again it comes back in without the soft start and takes the gear out. I've done it three times, all due to thinking "oh I forgot the timer"....

I reckon if you let the head speed drop and then flicked the hold off, with no soft start it will just take the main gear out.
With soft start you won't save your blown auto though....

I regularly auto my 500 - but I haven't got back into autoing my 450 since I blew the last two. Its all a bit of a rush though you have to bring it in fast and then flare into the landing using the spin up out of the flare to put it down (not as critical as the 450 though).

Unless the blades stop on decent when you are fooling around doing blade stops. Then it aint funny.

The punch in the air says it all. Lovely to see.

Now keep doing them every flight. Before you know it you won't want to land any way else!

Cheers guys, and yes Richie, that is probably a good idea, never know when you will actually need it for real.

Having practised them a fair amount recently - weather permitting - I always try to end my flight with an auto. OK, maybe not from all the height that the Pros do, but it gives me a bit of confidence for damage limitation, should the "unthinkable" happen.....
