I've removed the old one way bearing from the main gear hub (600N) but I'm wondering how I install the new one -does it require the green loctite that came with the kit? -or something else?

Press it in with a vice using some scrap wood to protect the bearing and hub, but make sure you have it the correct way round, you did note which way the writing was facing on the old one, didn't you. It's important you press the bearing in square.
No need to loctite.
Just use some light oil in the rollers before inserting the sleeve, not grease.Janek
Why does it always persist down at weekends ?

Are you replacing just the bearing or is your replacement the complete unit with the bearing in the ali block with the screw hole ready to fix to the gear?
But either way just use a bit of ca/super glue on the screws that go into the gear be careful not to over tighten them.Last edited by DT39; 12-11-2009, 08:52 AM.

I'm replacing just the bearing. I used one of these to get the old one out and it works very well (just be careful not to get the old bearing stuck in the tool!).

Was there "supplied" grease, I didn't see anyone saying that ?.Originally posted by tonystevens View PostWhy use oil instead of the 'supplied' one way bearing grease?
I've always had better results using light oil, and so have many others.
At the end of the day, we all have choices, I choose light oil because I've had better experience with it. Grease just clogs up the needles, holds in dirt (the bearing is unshielded), and generally makes a mess.
On shielded bearing I use grease.Janek
