Jamesb72. I couldn't agree morew about Wren pushing for someone to make conversion kits, however, it's an awful lot of grief. The synergy we just did took a lot of test fitting and adjusting before we were happy with the fit of the new parts. The CNC plates we made were designed in solidworks, and as such, I can supply the files to anyone wanting to do said conversion FOC It's then a case of getting a cnc shop to cut the parts, clean them up, then fit them

On the other hand, there is still a massive waiting list for the MW44 and they can't make enough of them. Surprising when they are £2750 a pop, especially in this "recession"!

I'm not surprised they are popular, everyone love turbines, and making the Wren44 fit a 90 IC mounting is pure genius ! A lot of people are spending savings rather than earning rubbish interest, and I can't think of a better 'investment' !

I saw some great turbine heli's flying at charmouth a couple of years ago, the sound, smell and sight of them is just fantastic, if I'd seen a turnkey solution (ie wren44, conversion kit and trex700) I am not sure I would have been able to hold the plastic back from a severe beating !!

Re conversion kits, I guess until the waiting list drops Wren are not going to worry, hopefully by then the HongKong machiners will have sorted out conversion kits for the popular heli's !

I have to say that when I saw the MHW artical on the Wren 44 and conversion of the helicopter to fit it in, I thought "one day there will be helicopter kits or conversions specifically designed for this motor, and if/when I loose my PPL and have to sell Big Plank, I am gonna have me a turbine helicopter"......

The conversion kit looks like it would be very few parts, just new sideframes and alloy mounting blocks - surely its obvious that anyone prepared to pay £2750 for turbine would be able to pay £100 quid for the conversion kit, which would cost about a tenner to make !

              Hey All,

There is a Trex700 Turbine conversion in the pipeline, a HF forum member from the US is working on one at present for the Align 700.
No major details as yet but it will be custom to the 700 with carbon and machined ali/titanium parts maybe.

An actual dedicated conversion is something I would like ot have got involved in here in the UK, as I do feel with the right amount of parts and cost at the end of it, a true 700N Turbine conversion would sell as it would appeal to more fliers.
At present it is a case of just buying the MW44 module from WREN and fabricating your own conversion to suit, the latter is good for the avid model engineer and builder, but not for someone just wanting to fly a turbine heli.

The one pictured on the front page of this topic is a cracking example of what can be done relatively easily with a little fore planning.
