Retail £2750 for the turbine kit.

A little bit more then your standard 700 power plant

But it does look niiiiccceeee ... nothing sounds as good as a turbine spooling up!

Blimey! Whilst many may think the same of me with my humble 500 and 600, the phrase "More money than sense" keeps popping into my mind... Still, if the owner's got the money, then fair play to him/her.

Why on earth the 700? There are lots of other .90 helis that have a track record for reliability.

              PS: Power... ho-hum.
Wanna try a drag race against a 700E? :-) (here is mine, 1:23)

That's a bit harsh Martin ("more money than sense").

If he wants a turbine, then good for him. I think the same when people drive round in Lamborghini's to be honest. They have earned the right to spend money on what gives them pleasure. Don't you think ?

LOL I would sign that one.
Why use the cheapest kit, when you spend almost 3 k€ for a turbine alone?

impressive - just a few grands worth there!! Not sure about the tiewraps on the main, butane and debubbler tanks with such an expensive motor on board. However, think I would do the same to get it in the air quick just to hear it fly!

Look forward to some videos of it in action!!

I have run 22 gallons through my 700 and there is nothing unreliable about it apart from the main gear stripping. Obviously using the mod 1 upgrade gear and pinion in this project sorts this problem. As far as putting a turbine in a Cheap 700, why not? And who cares?

                          >> 22 gallons
maybe it would now be a good time to change the tail rotor shaft...
And the tail blade holder screws. And the ball links. Maybe (if CF) the tail boom...

Fair dues - no offence intended. Trust me, I'm not the jealous type.

If he can afford it, then fair enough. I guess I view this in a similar manner to those Max Power readers that spend £30K doing up a Corsa/Saxo.

I think the turbine700 looks fantastic, I would love to have one, certainly on my wishlist for when I have the money - I've easily wasted that much on model bits and bobs, just not all in one go ;-) I bet the buzz of hovering that is more than any acrobatics you can do with a cheaper heli !

Does the Wren 44 fit straight into the trex 700, or is any conversion needed - ie new sideframes or machining to fit ?

I read the MHW review of the Wren44 which looked great, other than the conversion required buying some plans by email, getting hold of impossible to get carbon sheets and finding someone to machine the carbon and metal parts for you which sounded pretty expensive and time consuming - surely in this day and age you should just be able to paypal someone in HongKong and they post you the conversion kit in a nice string sealed envelope ??

If I was Wren, I would be encouraging someone to make conversion kits for popular helicopters, as surely thats going to help them sell more turbines !
