  • Clutch bearing glue?

Having been lazy for a while decided to set about building my NSP in ernest. Watched through the finless vids and he mentions sticking the bearings in the housing with shoe goo. I dont have anywhere Im aware of that stocks this near me so question is, what have you guys used to stick the bearings into their housings? Or is it ok to just situate them in without any glue at all?

    Cheers

    Mark

You can get green threadlock type stuff for fixing bearings in place.

Strictly speaking you shouldnt need to do this but if you have a bearing fail the glue will stop the bearing rotating in the housing causing damage.

Better not install them dry mate as they can have a tendency to spin and wear through the plastic housings at the risk of catastrophic damage.
Shoe goo is basically evo stik contact adhesive-You know, the yellow stuff that stinks vile. However people used to enjoy sniffing it in freezer bags before cocaine fell in price

The reason you can't use stud lock or bearing seating fluid is that it softens and destroys the plastic over time.

      Hope this helps
      Cheers,

just a quick add too, the green stuff isnt the only threadlock that rots plastic, just dont use threadlock on plastics and keep it away from your plastic ball links.
        All the best

            Too true Tony
If you need to lock a screw or ball into plastic ie self tapping metal balls into plastic mixing arms or aileron levers then use superglue only.

Yeah get yourself a big mac mate it's lunchtime
everything else you need should be in the kit regarding threadlock and one way bearing grease.. Small cable ties? Self adhesive Velcro for the receiver and lipo etc? Spiral wrap for cables? Double sided tape for attaching electronics? Superglue? Stanley blades? White electricians tape for balancing blades?
                  Cheers,

                      Hey Mark,
Would it be of any use to you if I popped over sometime and took a look at the build so far. I probably have most of the things you need.
                      PM or email me,
                      Mike.

I used Evo Stik on my 600NSP. Seems OK thus far.

What sort of timescale do you have on this?

Different grades of plastics react in different ways. Hirobo plastic does not soften over time. They advise to use threadlock to hold the main mast and starter shaft bearings in the frame.
