Hi Danny, right for 2200rpm head speed is 103% ish on the tavel adjusts on the aux 2 channel, if that is where you have your gov gain wire plugged into, alot of people run 100%, allows a bit more on the throttle travel. If its to much lower it until comfortable, remember to do the + and -
To set the gov correctly, turn on tx/rx, set your norm mode throttle curve 0-100% straight line at 45 degs, when this is done, put the throttle stick to the lowest posn, then press and hole the set button on the gov until it starts to flash, then raise the throttle stick to the highest point and then after a second or 2 it will go to solid red again, the gov now know where the throttle limit of travel are.
Also check that the 2 magnets that are fitted, rotate the fan and check that the light only flashes on one of them, they should be reverse of each other so only one should register
Hope this helps
oh and remember to put your norm curve back to how you had it afterwardsLast edited by moonmanflyer; 09-09-2009, 08:45 PM.James

basically you turn on the heli with throttle at idle push and hold the button on the gyro for about 3 seconds the led should change colour or flash (i can't remember which) push the throttle to the top (the led should now stay on think it flashes to comfirm) now you just use the end points on the aux 2 channel to set the head speed. the led will be green when the governer is turned on and red when it is deactivated

follow this it gives you three head speeds
Anyway, the governor is very good and I would give it another chance by following this configuration.
1. Install the governor per the manual. I'm using a DX7/AR7000 and the yellow sign wire is connected to AUX.
2. Set ATV for AUX2 to +100%/-100%
3. Set throttle curve to linear - 0-INH-50-INH-100
4. With the throttle stick on its lowest position, turn ON the radio.
5. Turn ON receiver and wait for the governor light to turn Green. When it's green, press the SET button on the governor for about 3 seconds until the GOV light starts to blink. Release the SET button then move the throttle stick to its highest position. The GOV light will turn OFF for a second then turn solid GREEN.
At this point, calibration is done. Verify that GOV is sensing the magnet by manually rotating the starter shaft with a 6MM allen wrence or just use your starter shaft. The lights on the GOV should turn OFF when one of the 2 magnets is directly under the sensor. (NOTE: only one of the two magnets should make the GOV light OFF. If you have both of the magnets turn OFF the GOV light, the magnets are installed incorrectly.)
PROGRAMMING THE DX7
1. Go to the master menu. (Press down+select and power ON)
2. Scroll to Input Selct menu and set AUX2 to INH
3. Turn OFF and the turn ON the radio again.
4. Go to the programming menu. (Press down+select)
5. Scroll to PROG.MIX1 menu. We are going to setup here the desired headspeed for Normal mode. Set it to make it look like this:
AUX2> AUX2 ON -- if this says OFF, your flight mode switch is not in normal
RATE: +80% --- for 1882 rpm headspeed
0%
SW: F-NR
OFFSET: 0
You set your RATE % based on the headspeed you want for normal mode. Refer to the table chart that came with the GOV.
6. Scoll to PROG.MIX2 menu. We are going to setup here the desired headspeed for IDLE1 mode. Set it to make it look like this:
AUX2>AUX2 ON -- if this says OFF, your flight mode switch is not in IDLE1
Rate +90% -- for 2024 rpm headspeed
0%
SW:F-S12
OFFSET: 0
Again, you set your RATE% based on the headspeed you want for IDLE1.
7. Scroll to PROG.MIX3 menu. We are going to setup here the desired headspeed for IDLE2 mode. Set it to make it look like this:
AUX2>AUX2 ON -- if this says OFF, your flight mode switch is not in IDLE2
RATE: +10% -- NOT 100% for 2171 rpm headspeed
0%
SW:F-S2
OFFSET: 0
NOTE: IDLE2 uses the base number from IDLE1 and add it's own value to it. So 90% (from IDLE1) + 10% = 100%
8. Exit programming menu and verify that when you flick the AUX2 switch on your radio, you can turn ON (green) or turn OFF (red) the governor. Take note which way your switch turns the GOV ON/OFF. If necessary, you can reverse AUX2 from the reversing sw. on the radio.
Thats it and go have some fun.Gaui x7 lush

@ rapid i have very similar settings to what u have given above mine are (where u have 0% because aux2 switch 0=off and 1=on
prog mix 1 -20%
prog mix 2 -10%
prog mix 3 0%
all other details the same i suppose this equates to the same thingDanny

At the risk of confusing the issue - i was determined to use this governor (and my CSM revlock) without using a pmix so I could use the three Dx7 pmixes for cyclic throttle (2 pmixes) and rudder gov (constant rotor revs irrespective of piroette). I never did the pmixes yet but here's how i have my governor...
The aux channel controls the head speed and is assigned to the flight mode switch, however this unfortunately means you end up with fully one way in norm, middle in idelup1, and the other channel end in idleup 2. Not ideal at all!
so I used sub trim to offset the mid point to the lower head speed, the lower endpoint is then set to get near to mid point (governor disabled) and the other end point is set for the top head speed.
So sub trim aux2 -125 (this gives 1700-1800 I've yet to clock it - but you can't get it much higher).
End points aux 2 +80% (this is adjusted to be sure the LED is gov disabled in normal and needs adjuisting if you ever change the + endpoint)
-27% is the difference between the lower and the upper head speeds (increase the number for more revs - this is about 2050-2100 good for 3D)
Aux 7 is black dot up for reversed.
My plan is to mix about 5% rudder to this to get a constant global head speed irrespective of piroette speed.
Note! I didn't figure this out, it is the sum of many similar ideas gathered from many sources. Please don't sue me for stealing intellectual property (
)
something similar works with the CSM revlock 20 I have on my 600 sport (remarkably similar numbers!).
aux2 black dot up (reversed)
aux2 sub trim -125
end points +80%, -26%
Rapidgas: I created your avatar and I would sue your ass off if I hadn't nicked the original pic and stuck the plane and heli on it... so I guess I'll let it go just this once

Thanks for your detailed instructions, I have been thinking about getting a governor that can be set to give different head speed, until I read the above and carpman's post.
I used it to set up the governor, however, when I put positive values in the mixes, the head speed is in the 2020 range even at around 10%
, but once I drop the values to negative, ie
Mix 1, normal: -78%, gives a head speed of approximately 1740
Mix 2, ST1: -80% , gives a head speed of approximately 1850
Mix 3, ST2: -04%, gives a head speed of approximately 1940
it all seem to work well, are the negative values due to the fact that my channel is reversed or am I doing something wrong here, just for my piece of mind?
Thanks Gents
Keep Well
Zaidy
