word of warning, do not use SS bolts on anything load bearing on a heli..i.e jesus bolt, spindle bolts, tail hub bolts and blade bolts. i'm not sure if they come in the RCScrews kit, if they do, ditch them.

    cheers

Thanks for that. I was and will use the standard bolts for those areas. Ive always used the standard Align bolts in the blade grips/feathering shafts etc, etc. No replacements for those screws are included with the RcScrews kits.

Ok so a stunning day at leuchars

After last years miserable weather it was a refereshing change to have a very light breeze and clear skies. Some seriously nice flying.

Ive finished the work on the head for the V-Bar and I also managed to get the engine and clutch sub assembly sorted. Now its just a straight heli build.

Trying to decide if I can be bothered with Kinross and go flying tommorrow or keep building......

Well what a good day at Kinross for a change

Plenty of flying and the only crashes so far were the plane guys unfortunatly. Some real bad ones

Got adecent number of flights on the 600, one of the 500 and even the 250 got an outing

Back home I've continued the 700 build. The mainframes are now assembled loosely and the tank is in.

All I have to do is check everything and then threadlock the relevant screws and tighten everything up.

As for flight time will I'm not sure but I wont be running the tits off the engine or having a stupidly high headspeed until I can use it.
Just bear in mind if you set the Vbar to do the Auto trim function and then change the headspeed you will need to set up another 'bank' in the Vbar for the new headspeed or carry out the trimming flight again.
The new V4 software is a brilliant piece of kit, very easy to use but if you get stuck feel free to PM for any in depth pointers.

OK so thats the frame finished and squared up. Engine and clutch with fan and shroud installed. Main shaft is silky smooth in bearings

I've used RcScrews in all areas apart from the engine blocks and I've no intention of putting them anywhere near the jesus bolts or the blade bolts etc. Apparently they shear /snap rather than bend.

Now to install the servos and control links etc. I reckon if I can get the physical assembly finished for Friday evening then that will leave Saturday night to set the V-Bar unit up.

Might manage to have this ready for Sunday after all.

Something else to bear in mind with the Vbar on the 700 the stock align or quick UK 600/700 servo horns are way to big, you will need something so that the balls are about 10-12 mm out from centre or you will have to reduce the travel so much you will lose resolution and cause a possible crash. I got some metal horns from quick UK that did the job Quick UK Retail - shop-products

You'll still need the smaller servo horns. I'm also running the Mikado head conversion. Flies loverly once you get it dialled on during set up.

Indeed, I spoke to Andy at Fastlads and he told me the part number for the quickuk horns but I forgot it lol. In the short term I'll use the small star horns from the Align accessories pack

Anyone happen to know what type of servo arm from QuickUK fits the Align 610/620 servos? E.G. JR or Futaba?

                          Cheers
