  • Tail pitch arm

Just a quickie for the Trex 600 experts.

When setting up the tail pitch arm, do you set it so the traveller is in the centre or do you simply align the arm to be 90 degrees as is the norm?

    Cheers

I set the gyro to rate mode, and adjust the push rod so that the tail drifts as little as possible. When that is done, set the endpoints to avoid binding.
In other words, I don't look at the 90 degree arm at all.

I start off with at 90 deg as for travel it's the gyro that sets the limit but should have it pretty close on the servo linkage and arm lenght.

I'm a little confused by the question.

I set my servo arm at 90 degrees and then set the pitch on the tail rotor to be at about +6 degrees of pitch. Not sure where the slider or arm are on the tail and I wasn't aware that it mattered?

Well, it depends on the model.

For my Rappy I set travel to mid point and not worried about it. Tail with 401 works great.

The pitch arm is the one found on the tail gearbox.

Just wondered if any Trex 600 users had any tips.

Don't want to cause any confusion Martin

Well, I was advised to set the tail rotor at 6 degrees with the servo centred and the servo arm at 90. That way the tail rotor is correcting the torque of the main rotor without causing the servo to work too hard (i.e. having to push to far from centre).

            Works for me...

Reason for my question is when you set the pitch arm to 90 degrees (not servo arm) you get the offset you describe on most models.

Just wondered before I start if peeps did this with the Trex 600 or have no offset.

              Ta.

I set my linkage so the tail doesnt drift (rudder trim centred)then adjust the limit pot on gyro(401)to get max travel with no binding in rate mode.
