  • Advice on govenor/rev limiter for T-Rex 600 Nitro

As title really, am pretty new to flying (6 weeks), and have just started working on lazy 8's. I notice the motor sometimes starts to rev a bit higher at mid collective point (when it gets warm maybe?), and want to control the revs a bit. What is the recommended, (but not too expensive) governor, or is something like the Throttle Jockey rev limiter an option. (Or 3rd option I guess, is it going to hurt to just let it rev if it wants, lol)

    Thanks in advance.

Revlock 10 - Cheap, Simple, Works Always used them, never had any problems in 2 and a half years (other than dead sensors occasionally) - Fit and Forget

And in reply to "does it hurt to let it over-rev", Yes! If it over-revs a lot or often, then it will lead to a very premature end to the engines existance.

My governor (GV1) packed up at the weekend, so I flew one of my 600's without (for the first time in 2 years), and to be perfectly honest, it held it's headspeed better without !

You can get pretty good by using your throttle curve, especially if you've got more than 5 points like mine !

Why does it always persist down at weekends ?

This is true, just be sure to add some cylic->throttle mixes to help keep it from bogging when rolling/flipping

I myself can't rate the align gov enough, very very simple to set up and works very well, have had one pack up on me, but bar that have been superb and use them on all of my nitros inc my aurora

Can't see rolling/flipping being a problem any time soon, but will certainly look into it. After a quick glance on Fast Lad, is the Revlock 10 going to be fussy about my throttle servo?

i use revlock 10's and cant fault em .. bit picky with engine tuning .. but other than that they do what it says on the tin .. 3152 will be fine with a revlock

how have you got yours so well setup, myne does not hold headspeed at all, i can hear it go into gov mode at start up but doing loops and tic tocs the headspeed dies altogether.

                cheers

Make sure when you do your limits on the throttle(part of the gov settings) you do a zero-1005 flat line, if you don't will not work properly, also make sure your throttle sets toi idle if tx signal is lost

All governors work well if you get the throttle linkage setup correctly and the engine more or less properly tuned. Quite alot of people have had the Revlock 10 causing the engine to "hunt". The Revlock 20 was brought out to fix the hunting issue. Revlock 10s can be sent back for a firmware update.

I would recommend any governor that does not require a tacho to set up and that includes the Revlock, MultiGov Pro and CY ATG3, unless you are a member of a club where the resident expert uses something else and has a tacho to help you set it up.

I use Revlock 10 on my Raptor 60 just doing hover and circuits, you can use standard or digital servo and make your selection during the setup, it has worked for me everytime

If your engines not tuned correctly, no governor in the world will keep the headspeed constant in high load manoeuvres. Also true if you're over pitching.

Ive used revlocks and atg both work. I tend to use the revlocks mostly as their easy to setup and their not fussy about magnet orientation.

Got a Revlock 10 sent it to be upgraded to 20 firmware and still have issues with over speeding during fast decents and it just won't work at all with anything below 1850 headspeed. Gain has to be turned right down or it simply doesn't work fullstop. My YS is tuned perfectly and have found 2000 rpm to give the best hold but I wont be in a rush to get another revlock.

Just building up a 700 with the align gov so will see how this performs. I've setup and seen an ATG running on an aurora i built a few weeks back and was impressed by that.

Running my 700 at 1950 again on a revlock 20 no issues.

Ive got an ATG on my 600 A channel or whatever they call it I cant get it working correctly doesn't hold at all but I have to say the b channel is fine, and works well, but theres a fair bit of extra price in buying one of these, although they do look very professional imho im just not seeing an advantage
