  • 700 engine temps

    Last weekend when it was 25 degrees my 700's engine (Align -H) was really running a bit hotter than usual. I assumed it was due to the higher ambient temps. I remember someone on here mentioning the airflow from the ducting misses most of the cooling fins on their head. Has anyone modded the ducting to improve cooling, or is there no point?

    Did you measure the temperature, is fo where did you take the reading and what fuel are you running?

    It could also be you might have a leak on the tank or other part of the fuel system?

    Not heard about any need to mod the cooling arrangements (though I think it has been done on a Knight).

      I am having to run mine hotter to get power out of them, was really noticable on sunday when it was hot

        My Carbsmart has been running the engine a little richer over the weekend, still not max rich but closer than usual although power has been pretty good. The Carbsmart is set for 110 degrees on the head and after a tank full I can keep my finger on the backplate for just 8 seconds.

          Good point Jason.

          Everyone seems to think the finger on the backplate is a good reading.

          Its a guide only.

          I always point my temp gun at the hottest part of the engine.

          The cylinder head.
