  • 600 NSP bearing failure where you'd least expect it

    This came as a surprise:
The heli is crash-free, except one botched auto where the small tail drive gear lost some teeth.

Is that an Outrage bearing that's failed ?

I've had a main-shaft bottom bearing fail on a G5 that has hardly been flown. (Some small test flights, during which a vibration problem appeared. Much searching later I discovered the knackered bearing - hopefully it's what caused the vibration.)

no, it was the stock bearing. I "upgraded" it to Outrage.
If those ones fail, too, I'll try GAUI next - same size as an EP 200 main shaft bearing.

Outrage G5 main bearings are ceramics aren't they? That's pretty poor if they are!! My G5 is still on it's 1st set <touches wood>

Align bearings are pretty crummy so I'm never surprised when one fails

                I think they're ceramic.

The bearings on the G5 I crashed and have subsequently flown loads seem fine.

This is the 'spares kit' one that I've had problems with. It was originally an unflown body with the re-built head from the other. Vibration problems that lots of head stuff didn't fix. New head. Still vibes. Noticed ~0.5mm play in bottom bearing. Hopefull this is what caused the vibes.

I'm a bit surprised, but it could be a duff bearing, or the result of seomething silly I did while playing around with this kit.

Mental note: Watch out for bearing failures...

                  Martin

Most of the Aligns, fair few Spektrum bits, bunch of Align & HiTec servos, OBE, VD & Bar.
