  • 700 problems

Hi guys. I need your help. I'm running a 700 with the following specs: YS91SR & Hatori SB19, Spartan & BLS251 and Align gov. Now, the first problem is a wierd engine hunt in the hover. I just replaced the rear bearing in the engine and have tried leaning the mixture to get rid of the hunt but no joy.

Secondly, the tail is oscilatting side to side in the hover (possibly related to the engine hunt?). The tail is sharp in piro stops but wanders in the hover. I increased the gain to try and stop the oscillation but then it wags in fast backwards flight or a pie dish.

I've taken the engine to the leanest point that the manual suggets to see if it smooths out but no joy.

    Any ideas guys?

    Sensor glitching ?
a wild guess, but the same happened to me only the last weekend on the 600 N. Fortunately, my 700 burns electrons...

Have you tried turning off the govenor Neat? I had a similar problem with my 700 at the Modland flyin which was the sensor on the revlock.

          Pete,

I have a spare sensor here if you are running your Align Gov. Can pop it over tomorrow evening if when you cook me my Steak and chips! Just let me know.

As for a 3 page life story Stu... You really reckon he could write 3 pages of interest on his life....? Nah, me neither!

Good idea Richie. Tbh I didn't try that but will next time out. The gov seems to be working otherwise though. If it was a sensor problem surely the gov wouldn't work at all?

                that's what -I- thought.
But vibrations etc can play strange tricks. I'd try to remove and reattach the sensor. That helped with my Revvmax.

Same thing happened on my 600. The sensor somehow got knocked and damaged the connection. Vibration in a hover would cause the connection to be intermittant, however in fast forward flt it seemed to be fine.

                            Hi brgsstm

No, it doesn't sound lean. There is what I can only describe as an oscillation, inconsistant hum or hunt when in the hover. The tail wanders from side to side and every so often the exhaust deflector gets an eratic shake.

Quick update: Changed the throttle servo and hovered with the gov turned off and the problem is still there (but maybe not as bad). This leads me to believe that it isn't the gov.

I've tried getting the bottom and mid needles tweeked to get a smooth transition and a nice idle but I obviously dont want to go too lean. Has anyone gone leaner than the recommened settings?

MIKE - Thanks for the offer mate. Ive actually got a spare gov I can try but as I think its engine related I'll hold off swapping them out.

Thanks for the replies guys. Keep em coming!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta be that diesel you are putting through it. Change to Rapicon will clear out all the sludge that's probably been left in there

I wonder if it could be your fuel regulator or the pressure nipple thats playing up.
