I've read lots of stories of fuel magnets disintegrating after someone forgot to flush their tank of exhaust gasses.

OS do a metal version that I believe works similarly, but without being able to disintegrate.

To stop your fuel magnet from disintegrating and to protect your fuel tube from being attacked by exhaust gases, simply store it full of fuel between flights and while at home etc.

      Works a treat.

            Recommend the fuel magnet.
Had one in my 600 for nearly 2 years and it is still working fine.

Leave an inch of fuel in the bottom of your tank so that the sponge stays wet, and they work great and seem to last as well.

They really do suck every last drop out of the tank.

Fuel magnets work well and suck up pretty much every last drop of fuel, but with a header tank you get slightly longer flight times, but it does add a little more weight. Mmmm ??? What to do ?

Been telling people to do that for years, but you also need to fully close the carb, use an exhaust bung or a clamp on the line between the exhaust and the tank, and a clamp on the fuel line feeding into the carb, just to seal it all off, so it doesnt attract moisture.

Well it does seem best option as no one has really commented on the header tank option other than longer flight time so I think I'll opt for the magnet & see how I go with that.

Nice thing about a header tank is it also acts as a fuel reserve.

I always know when I'm on the header tank as the engine changes it's sound slightly (goes marginally lean). This tells me to land soon.

It also acts as a visual fuel gauge.

You don't get that luxury with the fuel magnet. When the main tank runs dry, you land wether you want to or not.

At home, my heli's are stored in the bedroom and I don't want to have a full tank of fuel sitting on the shelf with the potential to leak, fire risk etc.

For these reasons I opt for the header tank.

                    Just my 2p.

                    Cheers

Would there be any reason not to use both?
