Bottom canopy clip stiff

Hi guys

I'm finding the lower canopy clip on my 600 is a bit on the stiff side. It's a real bind to get the canopy on and off.

Are they all this stiff, or is there a way of easing the removal and installation?

Take a Stanley Knife and trim the leading edge on the front skid where it clips over Martin.

Makes the fitting of the canopy easier but taking it off is still a ball ache.

It does ease in time but do not try to wedge it open because they snap like crisps.

Ask me how I know.

Tim's spot on they are a pain, I also tried one of the easy clips that are available and I found it to be even worse to get on, althought getting off was definately easier.

in the end youll find the bottom of the canopy starts to crack up, thats if your lucky enough to keep it long enough

Thanks for the tips guys. I've just modified the clip slightly. I used a craft knife to reduce the size of the "clasp" section of the clip and then used a small file to smooth it all down. Goes on and off much easier now.

I'm also finding that the bottom edge of the canopy fouls very slightly on the forward skid attachments screws. I may modify the bottom of the canopy to give better clearance there too.

you can also take the clip off and put it in hot water martin to warm it up abit

The easiest way I found was to position and locate the two pins ( I fitted the quickuk screw ones) then put my thumb through the bottom opening and push into place, I have not trimmed mine. If it is not snapped fully in place it vibrates as I found out.

Thanks for the heads up David. I have not completely removed the "snap" fit. It's just that, in it's un-modified form, the snap was likely to be the sound of the canopy snapping...

I found the best way was to file the lug on the clip right down and put a thumb screw through it which works for me !!

The clip is far too fierce!
I filed a bit off the clippy bit, then screwed an extra bit of plastic onto the clip with self tappers to kmakeit like the easy off style of clip.
Before that I just prozed it off with a screwdriver every time.

Didn’t some of the early 600N canopies have a habit of falling off in flight? I know of two that did. A tight clip is better than having a £>35 canopy go through the blades
