Spill the beans Tosh! How's it done?

Very easy.
Roll on glass to find the high spot.
Place shaft on two pieces of wood, one each end (high spot upwards)
Tap with hammer
Roll on glass and repeat till straight.

Done this dozenens of times over the years but read a few week ago about another method.

Drill hole in a 4 X 2 a couple of mm bigger than the hain shaft. put main shaft in drill, hold in the hole in 4x2 and run drill with some side pressure on the shaft. Not tried it yet but sounds good.

Well, got my pack of main shafts from Fast Lad this morning. Nice one guys! Missed the postal strikes too!

Having looked at the new ones they are hollow. I'm sure the original on the 600 was solid, or am I dreaming?
