  • Nodding 600 NSP, help?

    I've got a nodding 600 NSP, which isn't good.

    So from the start.

All fine before crash a week ago,(rock solid flying) rebuilt last week, tested this weekend

    I've replaced the following:

    Main shaft
    Flybar
    Feathering Spindle
Main and Tail Blades (Torsion blades M&T now fitted)
    Main Blade grips (pair)
    Front drive gears
Stripped heli for a good clean

    Boom & TT no damage

    Govenor GV-1 N = 1850, IU1 = 1950, UP2 = 2050

Majority of time the heli will hover and fly with no nodding but I've had it nodding over the weekend (flew with Busterboy and crew fine) Flown again today and it nods like a Churchill dog.

I noticed the nod coming out of a loop then coming out of a turn. I then flewpast myself straight past level nodding away like a good one at 1950 it was, went to IU2 2050 and made the nod less obvious. It seems to be when I've loaded the heli it will nod. Running IU2 also reduces nodding but fly into wind and it can be seen nodding slightly.

I'm tempted to put a new clutch in just incase there's any clutch slip

    Anyone any ideas??

        Rob,

Dampers are the original ones (black) re-lubed them when I put the new feathering spindle in. But for what they cost could quite easily nip to Fast Lads and stick some more in tomorrow. But another silly question. Would the crash have damaged them they looked OK?

        Cheers

            Lee,

I take you mean I could have over tightend the blade grips to the feathering spindle nipping the thrust race?

Bizarre that Shaun because it was flying fine on Sunday.

As Lee said pick some new thrust race bearing up for the blade grips, They are cheap and will certainly have taken a knock in the crash.

sounds like a grip locking up momentarily, so either somethings not gone together right, or the races are shot
                cheers Lee

I know Tim, went down the field tonight going to show my own turf how to spank a heli, and, well hence the post. Disappointed... any how moving on bearings / dampers it is then. I can go with that. Makes sense seeing as it bent an arm and broke an ball link on the grip hense the replacement.

I get to go to Fast Lads again

Thanks Lee, makes perfect sense never thought about the bearings. Just broke it to Caroline (wifey) you and Rob suggested I needed some more bits so another trip to Fast Lads tomorrow. You could guess the response

                          Mike,

That was my next move probably tomorrow or Wednesday, didn't get time today had a few newbies needed me to stand with them. so by this time I'd a thread in my head. But with the other suggestions made I'll do my first flight on throttle curves and see how it goes.

                          Cheers

I wish, having said that I think Chris at Fast Lads was softening her up this morning, they were in full swing talking about holidays in Florida. I saw my opportunity and went for it. There look a 700 kit pointing to the box behind Chris. your not having one yet was the reply. Chris replied that will be all then just these few bits?

An hour later in Meadowhall she got the dress she wanted though! How's that work then?

Check the heli over first, if it was flying ok then it probly still will.

My money is on something loose or govenor/engine tuning.
