  • Tail Gears ?

Took me 600 pro to the field this morning started of with couple of nice soft loops/rolls then into my forth flight giving it harsh good piro etc when I suddenly hurd a noise started to bring her in when tail end went out on me manage to land her in one piece
    .
Checking it out noticed rear gear two teeth broken & front TT drive gears stripped anyone else suffered with this I cannot find any reason why this has happen other than a verry fine chipped bit on rear side of tail blade that may of happen as she landed, the noise when it happened sounded more front TT gear drive.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

Thinking on from what happen I wondering if there was to much back lash cos when I was building her there did seem to be quite a lot of free play on the tail end which seem to be mostly from the from TT front gears but as theirs no adjustment didn't think no more about it.
Perhaps if anyone with 600 TT could check theirs to see if im right!

Not sure whats happened with yours Jim but you can mesh the gears if you feel theres excessive backlash...

First on the front gear box shim out the vertical play. Then when you press in the Umbrella gear only press it in till you get a good mesh.

To move/remove the Umbrella gear an old Torque Tube cut down makes an invaluable press/punch.

If your using an aftermarket frame set sometimes you need to slot the frame front mounting bolt holes and elongate the slot for the locator pin. This allows you to slide the whole boom/mount assembly in out.

Rear gearbox is usually very good but again you can shim the bearing between the outer race and outside plate.

If you do the above and run the tail blades a little on the loose side It takes a good whack to take them out out.

        hope that help you.
