re the fuel clips, I got them from Fast Lads, they were a couple of quid for a pack of 4 IIRC and I needed 3 packs for my Raptor which has a header tank installed.

As for you giving the RX a hair cut I would replace the antenna all together as the length of the exposed wire on the antenna is critial to the performance of the RX and the last thing you want is to lose signal when your in the air. I'm not sure how it would affect the signal having one antenna with a blob of solder in the middle of it and probably a differnent length to the other. For the sake of £5 I would deffo replace it...

Thanks for this. Where can you buy the antenna from and how easy are they to fit?

Most of the Aligns, fair few Spektrum bits, bunch of Align & HiTec servos, OBE, VD & Bar.

No problem.. I was told the length of the exposed antenna was a big part of how the RX is tuned to the 2.4Ghz signal and any difference between them will be to the detrement of the radio link..

When I bought my 7 ch radio the previous owner decided he did not like the look of the exposed wires in the antennas (antenni ??) and snipped them both off

I spoke to my local model shop and he had a set in stock, I think they were about £6 for the pair but that was futaba and IIRC the antennas on the spekky stuff are abit shorter so might be cheaper.. I would think that anywhere that sells spekky gear should stock spare antennas.

As for fitting I can only speak for my futaba RX but I popped the case open and the antennas had very tiny 90deg arial type plugs on so it was just a case of gently unplug the old ones and plug new ones in, feed them through the tiny grommits and clip the RX case back together. No soldering required.

Job jobbed in about 5 mins..
