So far the MicroHeli mod 1 main gear & pinion are holding up on my 700, just a few problems with the threads on the pinion nade fitting them a little harder than it should have been.

Last Sunday it was problems with the tail drive, an inverted wagging full stick climbout caused a pretty nasty gear stripping sound which I've heard before with the same gears. I didn't loose tail drive so landed and carried it back the the table. Taking the tail boom of with the front gearbox you could see where the straight cut gear that meshes with the auto gear had clipped the top off a couple of teeth and had taken a bit out of the middle of the teeth too. Not bad really after 120+ flights, quite a few with 100% deceleration profile on the Spartan gyro, very had on the yail drive.

Sounds like a good recovery from what coulda been a major crash.

Well my first 700 that was bought last year brand new still has the original main gear fitted and has done loads more flights than the one I bought from Alec (dumbthumbit) just 6 weeks ago.

This is a much more recent kit and has done absolutely nothing compared to my original.

When I bought the kit from Alec he was honest enough to tell me in those few flights he also stripped a main gear.

Could this be a bad batch issue as my original is still running stock with no issues what so ever.

I've had the same experience, bought my 700 out of the second batch and it hasn't stripped a main gear in 120 flights yet a fellow flyer at the club has a 700 that's only a couple of months old with maybe only a dozen flights on it and managed to strip a gear, even though he's running a pretty low headspeed and isn't in the manic 3D class I guess if you get the wrong end of all manufacturing tolerances things stack up.
