After telling everyone how I have never had a maingear strip I succombed to this adventure today.
After hearing stories that pilots were having gears strip when doing as little as hovering I can vouch that it was under quite some load when mine stripped this afternoon.
Working an aileron tic toc into the wind suddenly the dreaded sound appeared and loss of drive made me pull the hold switch and do a forced auto.
Not a big job to repair but was more than happy I got my recent power problems sorted out.
Turned out I was still running far too rich although my second 700 is still running 2 complete turns out with loads of power.
Got this one dialled in very nicely now with temps very near 90 degrees measured on the heat gun.
Roll on weekend.
