  • Clutch removal T700

How the hell are you supposed to get the clutch off without damaging it!?

I had the 700 apart last night to fit the ally block for the clutch stack and thought I would fit my Quick Uk clutch while it was apart.
After fighting for 2 hours to get the old clutch off I had to get out a pipe wrench and twist the old clutch around and around until it finally came off, is this normal?
It's mangled the old clutch somewhat and I was wondering is there an easier way to get it off without buggering it up?

Hey there is nothing wrong with those bits, it was an electric hence **** easy to work on. These nitro machines are much more hassle to maintain and work on, messy smelly and dirty not to mention parts that seem to require some sort of hydraulic rams to get apart.
As for getting the pinion out of the clutch bell no friking way that is budging.
Lucky the liner isn't as bad as I thought so I will keep the new clutch bell and use that for when the Mod1 gear set is out.

Can you apply some heat to the pinion to try and melt the threadlock holding it into the clutch bell?

        Cheers,

I've decided to leave the pinion on for now, the liner has plenty of use left in it. I have a new bell ready for the Mod1 pinion.

I'd still like to know how you are supposed to get the clutch itself off though. Is it just a matter of brute force and ignorance or is there some trick to it?

I had to take mine off once.
The clutch was removed fine for me - the problem was getting the fan hub off the crank - that took two people, several tools and a shed load of brute force and ignorance.

            For me...

            Cheers,
            Rob

Might just be the fact I don't have the strongest grip in the world then, due to my right thumb being held together with pins.
Oh goody I shall look forward to removing the hub when the time comes then

I replaced my clutch with the Quick UK one on Saturday and didn't have a problem getting the old one off, I managed to twist it off by hand. I'll be fitting the Microheli Mod1 gear and pinion when they arrive so I also bought a new clutch bell, I don't fancy taking the pion out of the old one.
