I honestly believe that all this will do is extend the life between episodes. Given another members views also on the frame flexing the mod 1 gear will take longer to wear and eventually the same results will occur. With less happening the preception could be given that its resolved while in reality all you've done is differed the inevitable. To stop the flex you need to beef up the frames also.

        There sold out!
I think it will be a fix, for one its CNC therefore very precise, unlike the injection moulded ones align do. And Mod 1 will allow the mesh to come apart more, and not take the tips off the teeth.

anybody remember milleniums and their clutch breaking? this was eventually put down to frame flex and NHP made frame doublers to stiffen it up..

place your bets, which will go first the new main gear or the clutch :-)

Will somebody PLEASE explain how a third bearing block will do anything to help, just an opinion but the drive gear is as close to the bearing as possible and therefore short of the hardened main shaft bending(not likely)it's got to be the gear itself deforming under load. If it is frame flex, then ok I agree with Ade but I just can't see a third bearing making much of a difference.

When my gear stripped, we examined it and saw that some of the partially stripped teeth had been stripped at an angle, which tallies with the gear rotating away from the pinion slightly.
A bearing block below the main gears would help to stop any rotational movement away from the pinion.

                  Cheers,

I wonder if fitting the Kasama main bearing blocks with the carbon 'X' brace would help, thrust races too.

I see what you are saying Rob, it's just that if it's rotating away from the pinion, then surely it's the gear itself flexing. Also I was speaking to Dave at Revolution the other day and they are in the process of making side frames out of a far stiffer carbon. Don't know when they will be available but they will probably be a similar price to Align.
I don't say I have the answer (before I get ripped to shreds) but it seems that all these extras are not having much effect, even those who have fitted them are still stripping gears. I do think that the mod 1 set will sort it,simply because it's beefier and the larger teeth will give it a greater mesh tolerance.

Playing Devils advocate here. If it is frame flex, why does only some peoples gears go?

I'm under the opinion that its that the standard is not meaty enough and flexing causing them to strip, therefore if the meshing isn't spot on they go. Also as I had said before the two gears I looked at the other day, one of them was shaped like an egg

This Mod 1 gear should sort this thoery out
                        Cheers Matt

I agree with Mattie. People keep saying 'third bearing block' which is fair enough but the fact is fitting one is a PITA. I dont fancy drilling my frames etc to fit one so the MOD1 gear will be the best hope for me.

I reckon this will be the fix as I believe the airframe is stiff enough.

Unless Align bring out some sort of easy upgrade to fit a 3rd bearing block, it will remain a PITA to do that...
I can't see it happening myself, but hey, you never know

Stronger sideframes seems like a great idea. I've worn out the sideframes on a Trex600 (and so has a mate of mine) to the point that they were flexing badly in flight causing all sorts of issues.

The Align MOD 1 gear is available at Midlands, by the way. With staff off sick and everything being extremely busy, the website hasn't been updated as much as it usually is.
                              Cheers,
