    Here you go.

MrMel...Check if your maingear can move up/down about 1mm (obs not tail gear),
If it can, Loctite residue from the factory has wedged between the upper bearing (inside the one-way unit) and the unit itself, so the upper bearing is not seated fully in.

Solution: Take it apart, clean, reapply new loctite & put together.
Could you post me the link please? I have heard of guys using shims from MA kits to sort it out? Will have a go some time later today and see if i can elliminate it fully.

    Cheers

Hi Lee see the last bit in the paragraph above in my last post.

The radial bearing moves up down within its housing or is not fully home in the housing. There are so many threads finding the originial is not easy. There was a post with step by step pictures.

Mod 1 gears again from Helifreak.. Post no 120..

      http://www.helifreak.com/showthread....t=play&page=12
The original Align Module 0.7 gears:
      Main Gear - 167 Teeth = 114.8mm Pitch Diameter
      Engine Pinion - 20 Teeth = 14mm Pitch Diameter
      Gear Ratio 8.2:1
      Center Distance = 64.4mm

Module 1 closest Center Distance / Gear Ratio Gears:
      Main Gear - 115 Teeth = 115mm Pitch Diameter
      Engine Pinion - 14 Teeth = 14mm Pitch Diameter
      Gear Ratio 8.21:1
      Center Distance = 64.5mm

        sorry guys
the 3rd bearing block doesn't cure the 700 stripping gears
my 700 stripped its gear at 5 gallons with the 3rd bearing block, the ali clutch bearing block and adjustable mesh
the old gear lasted longer and its gone the same way by wearing out/ripping off the teeth at the top of the gear
we only have two options now
        mod 1 gears
        or frame braces
        or both

does anyone know if the mainshaft is at 90 deg to the chassis or is it at an angle like a full size heli (i think the full size is around 5 deg give or take a few)?

I don't know if this is unique to my electric, but when mine goes it always strips in areas that are unsupported by the spokes of the gear. To me this points to improper cooling of the gear once it comes out of the mould since the spoked sections will cool at a different rate to the unspoked sections. Just one to throw in the mix...

Thanks for trying anyway mate. At least we all know its probably a fault with the gear itself. Mod 1 gear it is then.

sorry guys, i never got to fly the mod 1 today. one of my 700's (the one i was fitting it on) the engine took a dump so can't comment on how it is yet. i'll fly midweek with it all going well.

                  cheers

i have seen on RR a guy thinks the frame is flexing around the tail causing the gears to skip over each other
but i would think that the tail drive gear would get worn by this not the main gear?

has anyone got an old set of mainframes they can bolt onto the outside of the 700's frame to try and stiffen them up and see how the gears hold out?

As you all know I am on my 6th main gear. I am also on my second autorotation gear after the little gear that meshes with it stripped in flight. There might be something to the tail frame flex theory afterall. What I want to understand is why I am not shredding main gears anymore ? Seriously it used to be every 1-2 gallons. Now nothing for 6 gallons or so. Nothing changed when it stopped shredding gears, except the new main gear. It seems to be different to all the others. Maybe it is rounder or stiffer, who knows? Too many questions and not enough answers?

We worked out yesterday that my 700 has around 120-130 flights on it and I'm still on the original main gear. I fly reasonably hard, basic 3D and I'm having to come to terms with collective management so I'm not gentle with it The original gear is blackening up a bit but that's probably the hot start a week or so ago but the profile of the teeth still looks fine, the only worrying thing is the sounds of gears on quick piro stops, I've lowered the decelleration profile to help. My 700 was out of the second batch to hit the UK and has been flown all through the winter. It does look as if there are inconsitencies in the quality of main gears and I'm not 100% sure it's weather related either.

I've got a MicroHeli Mod 1 main gear and pinion on the way so when they arrive I'll fit them and see if I can strip these, although the performance of the Mod 0.7 MicroHeli main gears is a worry.

I am 100% sure main gear stripping is not related to flying style or temperature as initially suggested in the forums (when the 700 first came out).

When looking at the Synergy and Vibe 90s the teeth on the main gear are much larger. I just think the teeth size is too small on the 700s main gear.
This would be a much simpler fix rather than all these expensive aftermarket bits we all keep buying
