  • Peeved

Well a couple of week's ago I had a slight bump with the NSP - well more like a head on smash!!!

So repaired it then went for a flight last weekend - only to find that a small crack was in the tank and the YS working off pressure and no pressure and it was just not worth it. So that ended that weekend.

New Replacement tank in all new fuel tubing and off I went today.

Started it was running lean on idle, richened it up a little. Spooled it up and it the engine leaned right out and head went nut's - then re-looked at the needles again. Spooled up again and again it leans off.

Okay back to pit's - checking pipes, all over looking for any clues. Fuel all over the tank on the top. Can't see anything but what I can see is that the tank isn't getting pressure. So I start looking at the oneway valve its all looking okay.

Attempt no. 2 - tried starting it won't - so I take the plug out - baring in mind it was a brand new plug its fried, so in goes another new one.

It starts - This time its better - but back to land and looking over I can see that that tank is not getting much pressure in it.

Back to the pits - by this time I'm getting more peeved - was looking forward to more time in the air less on the ground.

So decide to do a pressure test and fuel up the whole system.

    BINGO

    Found the B£$^$&*rd.......

Align's lack of quaility checking - replaced one used tank with a tiny crack with a brand new one with a manufacturing defect in the drilling of the pressure nipple and punctured the outer wall of the nipple at the base.

They most probably will - I'd rather not name them as I don't want them to be associated with the fault it wasn't thier fault. It was brand new in the packet - so its an Align quality issue but they as the shop get landed with having to fix Align's silly mistake - mistakes that shouldn't really happen if you did a small pressure test on every tank before final packing. May seem ott but hey its just travelled halfway round the world for nothing and cost them twice the material / labour & time etc for 1 tank.
