  • 700 tank leaking

Hi guys. The outlet bung on my 700 is leaking when under pressure from the YS91SR. Any of you guys experienced this and if so what's the fix?

A clubmate used silicon sealant on his to stop the leak but just wondered if anyone had an alternative method.

Thanks for any suggestions as always
    Pete

    Hi Pete,

Your not having alot of luck with this one are you mate

I had a problem with the outlet nipple on the main tank of which I cured by adding a ty-wrap round the pipe. The bung on my tank seems to be holding ok though. I would surgessed remove the bung, get it super clean and add a little silcone to help seal it.

    Hope you get it sorted
    Cheers Matt

      Hi

Some silicon will break down over time because of nitro giving you further problems, try removing the bung and making sure the edges of the hole are totaly clean (no flashing) then the bung should seal fine.

      Cheers
      Bob

Thanks guys. I'll take the tank out and have a go at your suggestions.

Mattie, I'm hoping to get this heli sorted before the spring. As you say it has given me a bit of greif but when it's going it's amazing which is making me determined to sort the bugs out.

        Thanks again guys.
        Pete

                    do an electric conversion
that will cure the leaking tank

try fitting the bung the other way around after you've taken it out, you never know it may seal better

I swapped my knackered main gear for a STD one for now Ade. When the Align -1 part is out I'll try one of those, then there's the various metal clutch blocks that will soon flood the market and..............

Just the usual main gear issues but I had a tail stepdown fail on the the second outing from new resulting in a hefty £300 bill. (nothing to do with the heli design I hasten to add).

I'll get it running sweet though. Once the tank is sorted and the new main gear is out with the new clutch block and I upgrade every cheesy bolt then...........have I convinced anyone yet?!!!!!!! No, me neither!!!! Lol

the align -1 main gear is said to be for cold weather, being a larger diameter it may cause the clutch bearing block bearings to wear very quickly

mine so far has had 1 link crack (i found it on checking the heli over)
the swash bearing shield kept falling off so i removed it
the one way start bearng keeps slipping
i've not yet had the main gear strip but i've got spares ready to fit (but due to the frame holes being out of line i may need to strip the heli to get the mainshaft out)

and i forgot the gov don't work from new

i had the same problem with the tank leaking on my rappy...
fixed it with PTFE tape (the white stuff plumbers use.)
