  • Cheesy Bolts. Not any more.

Just found these from a UK source on eBay.

Will be purchasing a few for myself as I'm sick of drilling bolt heads off the standard issue crap that Align supply you with.

Thanks for this busterboy,I have just experienced the sme problem with the align screws rounding off when i was buliding my T-Rex 500 kit,the screws were so bad that the one in the tail rotor grips became rounded that bad i couldn't remove it at all so i had togo and buy the full tail rotor grip set again for nearly £8 .
    Cheers Grant

                Hi Tim,
Aren't these just the shouldered washers and not replacement bolts?
How are these going to prevent the bolts from rounding since you will still be using them or have I missed something??
                Adrian.

Replaced the bolts some time back Adrian but havent had the chance to fit them because of the shanked washers.

                  Problem solved now hopefully.

Great find but £8.00 for 10 washers? Tilt!
                      Martin

Most of the Aligns, fair few Spektrum bits, bunch of Align & HiTec servos, OBE, VD & Bar.

                        Yep.

And £11.63 for T-Rex 700 engine mounts everytime a bolt is broken off in them. Plus other items you have to replace because of cheesy bolts are broken in them.

Sorry Martin these are cheap.. Believe me.

In the long run I guess you are right.

I have a superb nuts and bolts supplier just up the road from me. I may pop up there next weekend and have a root around. It's one of those old shops that looks like it's been there forever.

Not sure what I'll find but it may be worth a look.

So to understand correctly Tim, is it that the RCScrewz replacement screws do not fit into the Align supplied speciality washers and these are needed to replace them?

I bought the rc screwz Martin and to be honest what a waste of money.

Almost £20 for a small box of bolts I can buy from my local hardware store for less than £2.

                            You live and learn.

The washers with the "Flange on" did I really say that... is what you need to keep the frame and other items aligned straight on these helis.

                            These are perfect.

Ok Tim - with ya now. Is there any issue with the sizes of the holes in the frames? Just wondered if the holes would need to be opened up slightly such that the shoulders can slip into the frame holes.

Also do you have the specs of the fasteners you bought locally? (i,e material, shank diameter, head diameter, length etc)
