  • Gyro location - front or back?

Peeps, whats the general concensus on the best location for the gyro on a 600n to minimise vibrations and interferance

Front (on gyro plate above top 2 servos) or back (tail boom/gearbox) casing??

    Thanks

The front gyro mounting plate is a very good and very cheap upgrade as it stiffens up the frames right where the CCPM servos are mounted. Of course, once it's fitted, it's also an excellent in-canopy place to mount your gyro, with a lot more protection from oil etc than when it's out on the back. You shouldn't notice any difference in performance either at the front or the back.

But, some gyros don't fit in the front. I'm sure I heard someone saying on here that the CSM720 is too tall if mounted at the front and the canopy won't go on. I've got a Spartan up front on mine and it fits great.

Front, if only so you don't have to keep taking it off to to repair tail gears etc.

                Front.
The csm 720 wont go with it on the extra mounting plate so I just mounted it directly on top of the two ccpm servos.

There was absolutely no performance difference with it at the front compared to at the back.

The 600n balances too far aft unless you have a really heavy rx battery so the gyro at the front is the way to go, plus it is better protected too and less of a problem changing tail gears.

Also no one has mentioned the fact it is less likely to get covered in fuel on the front.

90% of people execute forward flight hence any spillage is spewed out the back.

For someone that's just done their first tail gear with a gyro mounted at the back I shall, when repairing it, get this plate and move it to the front, thanks.

my vote is for the front, less oil better protection, easier when changing tail gears. its all been said.
                      All the best

i have to say, at the moment i have it mounted at the back, but if/when i next need to change gears, i will mount it at the front like my 700/knight 3d for the main reason of protection under the canopy.
