  • Changing the boom on a 600

I have just got a blue boom for my 600NSP to bling it up a bit and get it colour co-ordinated with the rest of it.

Anyone got any tips on replacing the tail rod and keeping it at the length you had it at or do you just redo and keep adjusting until you get it right with the gyro.

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

    Cheers

when I change boom etc. I always resetup the tail, just incase there are any minor changes. reseting your limits etc doesnt take long and you then know its right.
    All the best
    Tony.

Switch the heli on and switch gyro in to normal mode. This will center the servo arm. Now measure the distance between the tail rotor slider and the tail box.( I use a vernier.) Replace the boom and secure all bolts. Switch on and again switch gyro into normal and adjust rod linkage if necessary to give the desired "gap" at the tail slider as previously measured. Hope this helps.

TREX 600 N PRO - awesome and superb to build -
      Trex 450 se v2 - Brilliant heli.
      Trex 500 - tested hovered (24.03.08) - brill
Blade 400 - tricky little blighter - Rebuilt more times than i can remeber.
      Blade cx2 - The start !

        Thanks guys.

I have a vernier myself but its nowhere long enough to measure the tail rod.

          Don't do it Richard.

Don't know whether its just me but they look much better with the stock carbon coated boom.

Back on topic its a fairly easy task mate, As Sesame quoted the tail will be to reset to be on the safe side.

PS: Can I buy the stock boom from you.

Oh no way. I thought it would look good in blue. Oh well lol.

My carbon one got smashed in my only crash so far with it and accidently ordered the normal black booms for it. I have the one on it now and a spare if you want those if the blue one looks pants.

You don't need to measure the tail rod. As Davewaddy said you measure the distance between the tail pitch slider and the tail case before you remove the old boom, then make sure the distance is the same after you fit the new boom
