  • 700 Fusuno canopy clearance with Hatori

    Hi Guys

For those of you running a Fusuno V2 canopy on a 700, how much clearance do you have between the front of the pipe and the canopy?

I reckon mine will rub in flight but I'm also thinking I may have slightly bent the Hatori in the crash. I could dremel a bit away but TBH I'm more concerned about the pipe being bent!!

    Cheers
    Pete

My Fusuno v1 was very close Pete, In-fact that close it touched but the v2 new canopy has quite a clearance I am pleased to say.

I reckon your pipe has taken a knock.

Picture of the v1 rubbing when I had it.

Hi Tim, its Pete BTW not Adrian!!!

Yeah, I reckon the pipe has taken a knock as it has about the same clearance as yours in the picture.

Sorry Pete that's me speed reading.

As I said the v2 fits quite nice with at least half an inch of clearance between canopy and pipe mate. (Hatori 939)

Ive got the SB19 for the YS91 but I cant see it being much different to yours. Must have twisted the pipe in crash. Doh!!!

Did you remove rubber canopy spacers to make it a better fit? Ive found it much easier without them to attach the canopy.

My first Fusono canopy actually touched the front of the Hatori, it was the one Blink Trading had on their stand at Clubman 3D. The canopy was a little distorted and I tried re-shaping it with a heat gun with mixed results. The second canopy is a much better shape and clears the Hatori, even after the front was slightly re-arranged in the crash that wrote the first canopy off!

After a bit a 'gentle' persuation the canopy clears the Hatori. There is a slight bend in the pipe somewhere which definately brought the pipe onto the canopy but until I trust the heli/electrics completely I wont replace the pipe for a new shiny one!!

No Pete, I bought a set of 4 canopy rubbers from Fastlads but had to drill the holes out to a larger diameter to accept the rubbers.

Have the canopy mounting set for my 700 so a little modification to accept the rubbers hoping it would protect the canopy from cracking.

Thanks Tim but got the QUK thumb screw kit yesterday with the canopy. I was talking about the spacing rubbers on the airframe itself. Just for info I found Fusuno recommends removing these rubbers on their website.

I took mine off a minute ago and the canopy fits much better. Doesnt get stressed anywhere but above all its easier to locate the thumb screws!

I had to dremel off the ends of the threads that stick out from the servo wheel ball links though as they rub slightly. All sorted now though and looking pretty!
