  • New build help needed - clutch stuck to fan mount

    Hi Guys

I am currently building a Trex 700. Its my first nitro heli but I've hit a major snag during the build: I can't separate the clutch from the engine fan mount. I need to separate these to get the crank shaft nut on. The parts are brand new and were supplied mated together. I have removed the two screws and spring washers but the clutch seems to be stuck to the engine fan mount by an interference fit. Can anyone give me some advise on how to separate these parts without damaging them? Seems that new engine fan mounts are not available yet in the uk.

    Thanks folks
    Al

They are tight mate, Very tight so much so that I had to use grips on mine to part them.

Keep trying they do come apart.

i used a pair of long nosed pliers just place the jaws on either side of the mount and give it a little lift then rotate 180 degrees and repeat and so on

Thanks fellas, did it with 5 minutes in the oven then tapped the fan mount off of the clutch with a wooden spoon through the clutch bearing.

Did you wait till the wife had gone to bed before using her oven and then wooden spoon as a drift ?

I even conducted some experiments beforehand to confirm the melting point of plastic
