  • 600 NSP Build

    Morning,

I am getting ready for the big day but I just wanted to find out what I am going to need for the big Build?

I have got all the radio gear, gallon and a half of fuel, some good Allen/ hex drives, Swash plate levelling tool, Pitch gauge, Lock tight, Cyno and epoxy

I built my 450 and I have watched Bob's videos.

Just wanted to know if there was anything else that would come in handy apart from flying talent as I am seriously lacking in that department?

Link removal tool/pliers is always a very handy thing to have. Will stop ya from deforming the plastic links. Makes it easier when your setting up your linkage lengths. And if you havent already got them on the rear of your hex drivers then a tool for screwing the plastic links to the rods. It starts getting tedious after you have done a few Both these tools arnt essential but will come in very handy for future models also. Wish i had of got mine for the first model lol.
    Cheers

Mike, Kind of and a very good idea I was thinking of Expanding Braid 2-6mm but unlike the spiral wrap I think you would have to take the servo plugs off which is a pain...

Give ya build tip... one i can think off the top of me head anyways... put the tank in as you fix the 2 frames together as its a bit of a squeeze after
Apart from that its a typical easy Align build, just make sure ya use loktite in all the right places and anything thats metal to plastic (not that theres much on a NSP) then use a small dab of CA.
                  Cheers

good tip there Lee, but make sure it is a small dab of ca as align screws are not renound for taking out easily, metals too soft and they twist off.

If you use the expanding braid, I have and it makes a neat job you dont need to take the plugs off to get it over if you get the right size it will slip over, you'll need a little more in length than what it looks like you need as putting the plug through will make the ends very ragged, snip the braid of level then use a good heatshrink over the end will seal the braid in place.

personally not a great lover of the spiral wrap as it easily gets oil in it which is awful to clean off plus as it gets older it can go brittle, hard plastic can cut into the wires.
                      All the best
                      Tony.

Watch out for the cooling fan (plastic) being warped - mine was, so I fitted the QUK replacement. Take care not to get the magnets for the gov sensor wrong, whilst I am on the sensor, it might be a good idea to locate the ty-wrap for the sensor cable before you fit the engine and cooling duct, its a real pain otherwise.

I also got the RCBooya canopy mounts - good imho.

Have fun with the build - I enjoy that bit as much as flying.
                          Shaun.

Yes mate, infact with the 700 the early ones were even more of a pain cos they made the tank hole slightly too small, or the tank too big, whichever way you want to look at it. but fitting the tank as you put the frames together is a wise move.

Also Shaun brings up a good point about the governor sensor, I would also fit that prior to building up the frames. as it can be very fiddly afterwards. on both machines 600 or 700. I didnt use the align governor in my 700 and I had a hell of a time macking a bracket to fit the revlock sensor because it had to be 90 degrees to the frame. very hard to do with the frames built.
                            All the best

                              Morning,

The 600NSP went together like a dream took her for her maden flight yestaerday and put 3 tanks through the motor before my fingers got too cold...

The only problems were getting the engine turned over at the field for the first time. I had run it in the garden the day before and it started with my starter and trusty lipo combo but typical at the field we tried 2 starters and 3 batterys.... Ended up with the lot under the bonnet of the car with the starter on the car battery...

The other issue was the GY401 was a bit funny with a high speed wobble but we put this down to the lean running as changing the gain doesnt help...

Thanks for all the help the build couldn't have been easierI really enjoyed it. I spent about 2 hours a day on it and I think including leveling the swash and setting up the head and tail it took me about 10 hours.

Fingers crossed I can get back down the field tommorrow....
