  • Getting the kit but what Servo's to buy?

Going to place an order for the 600N but as a newbi I need to get a radio and servo's. Not sure if my prefered choice Spectrum DX7 should be purchased as combo deal with servo's or just the radio. Most don't rate the servo's that come with the Spectrum so what should I do?

I think what I realy need is somebody to recommend a good quality reliable set of servo's (but not too expensive) that will protect my investment.

    Thanks
    Andy

I'm a relative newbie too, with a Trex 600 nitro & just a few steps on from where you are now.
Here's what I got from this forum along with other club advise & it helped me & can help you as it's a fairly standard set up.

Don't get the servos with the tx. Get them seperate & the tx will be cheaper anyway.

Throttle - keep it simple (and cheaper) as you won't be stick banging at the mo anyhow - futaba s3001. Does the job just fine & under steady control.

Cyclics x3 - futaba s3152. Not the fastest servo in the world, but will move you onto 3D if your that way inclined. They actually move fast enough to scare you silly to be honest.

Tail - with a futaba 401 gyro add the s9254 servo. Normally comes as a package anyway.

Hope that info helps & good luck with your build.

I like 3050s - they're a metal gear digi servo that are 6V designed at a sensible price.

3152s are ok too and fine for their price.

You spend your money, and takes your choice.

For a beginner, it really ain't worth spending any more than £30 per servo on the CCPM.

Moonmanflyer (James) has put 3 Hitec 6965's up for sale on here for £75. Ideal for cyclics from hovering to full on 3D.

                PM him for a deal.

If buying the radio why not got for the Futaba 7cap 2.4ghz and it comes with 3152's with the tranny and the futaba 7cap is a good tranny.

Like Pete says, i have 3 x HS6965HB's for sale, alot better than the 3152's as they are faster and have karbonite gears.
But if you do go new, i would spend the extra and buy the align 610's, higher torque than the 620's, the S3152's are excellent servos but if you move into 3D flying you would have to change them for more capable servos, spend once, spend right as they say.

The new Align servo's 610 and 620 have been getting some good reports, i have 2 600N's with JR 8715's on cyclics and 8900 on the tails, the Align servos would be a no brainer at around £37.00 ea if i was building again tomorrow.
