  • Tail Pitch Arm - Totally Fustrated

When i put my 2nd 600 NSP together i got totally fustrated when putting on the tail pitch control arm. No matter what i did it would not move freely. As soon as i tightend it up on the tail housing it would almost lock solid. I ended up replaceing the the two washers which sit on each side of the ball race. Although not ideal it did the job.

I am now replacing the link arm after a crash, and low and behold when putting it together it locks almost solid again and not free moving.

What am i doing wrong? Seems hard to believe that it could be a faulty unit or wrong washers again. Is it me doing something wrong... over tightening the bolt?

Has anyone else had this problem?

    Hi Aidi,
this is probably going to sound like teaching granny to suck eggs but, have you put the brass collar in the tail rotor control arm?
    Double check everything.
    1) Is the collar in place?
    2) Are the bearings the correct size and fitted correctly?
    3) Are you using the correct washers?
    4) Have you got loctite in the bearings or on the collar?
    Adrian.

It turned out to be the exact same problem as i had before... wrong washers. As soon as i changed them for larger ones it would tighten up and move freely.

This seems very strange that i have now experienced it twice, and nobody else has ever mentioned it!

The washer which comes with it and goes each side of the ball race pinches too much and stops the movement. Put larger ones on and it works fine!

its just fustrating when you buy something and then have to use other parts to make it work.

I have noticed that these washers seem to have a very small lip on one side (when they are manufactured they are pressed out and leaves a sharpish edge).
Maybe it makes a difference which way round they are mounted?
Glad you've sorted it though Aidi.
