  • Ball link issue

    Hey all,

Ive got a 700 but after reading countless posts about the ball links im reluctant to fly it until i have replaced them.

Does anyone know if there is a direct replacement for the ball links i.e rocket city replacement or is the quick uk or downsizing the balls the only option.

    Thanks in advance
Trying to progress not getting very far.......

I have heard the same regarding the ball links.

I fly my 700 every week with the stock ball links and had no trouble with none of them after 7 gallon through it.

And that includes a fast tail slide into a tree breaking many parts but all the stock ball links were all in tact I am pleased to say.

That speaks volumes for me, And yes I have a brand new set of the upgraded QuickUK ones sat here waiting to be fitted.

my 700 has the quick uk links and balls fitted
when i was changing them over i found a cracked align links i don't know if this happened when it was in flight or when it was fitted (my kit was from the batch with the bendy links)

I'm sure there is a flaw in that batch. Bent links that keep snapping.

Mine were all straight from new and have been faultless in flight.

Check them everytime I fly and all ok so far.

If I find one link faulty the whole lot will be changed.

i checked mine every flight but couldn't see the crack as it was in just the wrong place to see it
the reason i changed was to get rid of the bendy links and it's a good job i changed at least the one

The Quick UK link set is now a complete direct replacement. It seems some of the info you have been reading is now out of date.

I changed mine after a heavy auto snapped a blade grip link. The heli did tip over, but the blades were undamaged, so go figure. Either way I wasn't happy with the reports I was hearing on the internet, and under the circumstances chnged over to quick uk links.

That said I understand RobGT put over 15 gallons through his 700 with no problems.

I quite a few links that are bent, but they seem solid enough? Has anyone else flown with bent inks and have you found any problems?

Should I just replace with the quick uk ones?

Trouble is Knife, Align links are a different size ball so you need to change them too.

BTW the QUK links appear to me to be Rocket City links

                    cheers Brian

My kit had the wonky links too.
I didn't have any snap on mine while I had it
