Trex 700 - Blades?

there's much better blades in the 325mm size than the Maniacs, they are ok but across the range of maniac blades they are the weak link IMO

I flew Align 690D's and Torsion 710's back to back. Literally flew the 710's for two minutes, landed and put my 690's back on. The 710's made the heli much easier to bog and took the fun out of having a 90 (for me anyway). My personal view is the 690's are just more fun.

if you use 690 + 710s would it benifit in a pinion change for the difference in blade length ?

Usually a retune of the motor is all thats required. Most people run a governor so throttle curves wont change. Neither will pitch curves. Collective management plays a bigger part.

690v (smooth non TSTs ).

They don't forgive poor collective management or a stick banging style of flying. If you are a slow like me they are great.

I'll keep an eye on the NHP 710s then, although I suspect that's probably a one off as NHPs have been around for donkeys years.

Definitely a one off as I have been flying the NHP 700's for a while now on my 700 and havent had another recurrence of it. Good blades and there is a 690 NHP out soon

690 radix are my favorite blades at the moment, seem to give a good mix of all aspects but not the master of any, v-blades i will be trying on my aurora but i also have some radix to try, when i have set it all up and got it running nice will try them back to back, mine are the smooth v's also

Excellent news, bits yip the cams. I've had some great flying on the old 680 FAI's..so expect them to be good.

The 690's are still being tested (with a cam for adjustability)and about two weeks before a non cam prototype will be ready. The new wide chord 600's are in production now and fly far better than the old razor pro's so hope the 690's do the same. No idea on weights yet but the 600's are 140grms(tad heavy?).

My thoughts.

If a blade has a wide chord it requires less angle of attack to shift the same amount of air other things being constant.

Also floats a little longer in autos

Chord wise CG will dictate the agressiveness to a certain amount hence testing using cams I suspect. Weight, a lot depends exactly where the weight is placed within the blade so weight is only part of the equation.

Fully agree Barney,move the the CG closer to the leading edge and the blade tends to become more aggresive until it reaches the point of becoming unstable. So far I have been given three sets to test,each set lighter than the last and I have to say they seem like they are excellent value for money (fly well/reasonably priced). I only mention the weight because they don't recover from loading as quickly as my other blades,(600d's and V-blades). I did suggest reducing the weight and moving it further towards the tip for a lighter blade with the same inertia but Dave says the design and materials used won't allow it. Anyway I should have a set of the new 690's to test without the cam in about two weeks and if they fly like the 600's could be a winner. It's good to see NHP finally catching up with a more modern blade design, although I do think they should have offered two versions ie. 3D and F3C .
