  • New arrival !!!!!!!

Now the very proud owner of a 700 - turned up today via citylink,,
undamaged!!!!!! , Initially was going to use leccy power- still may in the future, but after flying a mates on saturday have decided to stick a nitro instead- now need help on gear,,, Got a new and unused 601/9256 so will use that- heard that the align guv won't work with the 9256- what others do you guys recommend? , got a OS91 SZH C spec and Hatori pipe-old but reliable !

Not sure what servo's for remainder- can I get away with "medium" servo's like 9255's or save up for 8717's??? Also gonna be using align B6T Regulator- can I use higher capacity lipo rather than the 1900mah- on that setup I 'll probably only get 2 flights!!!- As for blades I know the manual states 690-710mm- got some sab 680's and TT carbon 680's hanging around,, can they be used ??? And finally I've got a spare ar7000 spektrum-
could use that or should I consider the new AR7000R ?? Got to say the only thing I don't like about this heli is the canopy- looks like a jelly bean ,,, Appreciate your advice guys,,

I'll give you £30 for the canopy if you fancy buying a new one..

AR7100R is definately a good buy with the built in Revmax.

Radix 690's are working very well for me, 710's will smooth out your flying but make it slower on the cyclic but not by much.

If you can afford the 8915's for the cyclic then no more worries on that front.
If not the new Align's are looking very good.

Your engine and Hatori pipe should be fine unless its knackered.

Fantastic heli, Hope you enjoy flying it as much as I do.

It shouldnt be too long before it looks like this..

I had the cable on my Align B6T break after around 4 months and wouldn't consider using such a mickey mouse bit of kit again. they are rated at 6amps I believe which is in no way big enough for the servos, governor, gyro etc we are all using now. As an average mine pulls around 6-7 amps with peaks not stalls going to 16amps. Buy a Fromeco or an ElyQ.

Im using the align 2 in 1's with no issues, the align 610 cyclic servos are very good too and id also suggest another 610 or a 620 for your throttle.

Im also using a 4000 mah flightpower evo rx instead of the 1900 and get about 9 flights per charge

          shims on main mast???

All assembled and just waiting for maiden flight on sunday( weather allowing )
small query though- Is it possible to fly without the main shaft been shimmed???- tried every one of them and it's impossible to fit the jesus bolt with a shim in place !! - In fact the head is absolutely spot on, no movement whatsoever vertically,, is it possible they've amended the tolerences on this kit ,,,, apart from the dodgy links in the kit, went together quickly and no build probs either.

Of course no problem. I had the very same problem when mine was new, Had a fraction of movement on the mast but couldnt get the smallest shim in and get the jesus bolt to fit.

After around 30 flights I have now squeezed the smallest shim in and all is tight again..

I can bend my heli easy enough without the use of a hammer Rob thanks very much.

3dx Nothing wrong with using those 9255 servo's.

You will get 3 safe flights with a 1900Mha battery assuming it's in good condition. I comfortably get 4 out of a 2170Mha and the advantage of a lipo is the speed you can top them up. You can use something a little larger as its a tad tail heavy with that size if you want more capacity.

Youv'e got to much money sticking a 9256 on the throttle!!!

Again your AR7000 is just fine and buying a cheaper servo for the throttle would be another option?

Regulator wise there are a few choices. The 'Pefect' regulator is worthy of consideration..Arizona etc etc

I did read the 601/611 Gyro's is heavy on the battery juice so not sure if the Align is the best option but then Again I've not read of any shutdowns either?

On my own 700 I've been running an Align 6amp BEC not the 2in1 without issue (8915's and work the model pretty hard.) BUT do make sure the wiring is supported properly to eliminate vibration fatigue as the wire quality leaves a lot to be desired.

My model has no additionial weight added and uses a DS821 Throttle/ 9254Tail/Multigov/Spartan DS760/fut608 Rx /DS8915's/FP2170/align 6amp BEC so not hugely Hi-tec

                  hope thats of help

They now sell a pack of thinner shims but if you have no vertical play, no problem it will work just fine without one.

I've also been using the Align reg for a while now without problems, I use it with one of Real Raptors 3000mAh 2S lipo packs, this is with Ace 1013 servos, Spartan 760, BLS251 and 9254 on throttle used with the Align governor, the governor isn't perfect but does a good enough job.

I was running mine on GCT Extreme 680 blades and loved the feel with fast cyclic but plenty of reserve in autos. After an unsheduled heli-ground interface (crash!) I've now fitted a set of Maniac 703 blades and I'm looking forward to wringing them out this weekend.

Final setup now is Hitec 6965HB -thanks Ashley !,,,,, decided to stick with 611/9256 for tail,, maybe upgrade to spartan in the future.... Servo's are only rated for 6v operation so power wise I'll use a 5 cell nimh 4600mah pack or a 2s lipo and a reg,,, Blade choice is now TT Carbon 710mm and Maverick carbon 700mm- AR7100R was a peach to set up but because I ain't got a tach yet, first flight will be done with limiter disabled,,

                      Roll on sunday,,,,
