  • ElyQ setup

I want to run all my 610 servo's at 6v and my 251 tail servo at 5v. My ElyQ has 2 sections one runs at 5v (5A) the other I can set for 6v (10A). What is the best way to set it up? Do I run 6v into the reciever and power the tail servo with the 5v section? Or do I run the 5v into the reciever and individually power the other servos at 6v. Obviously the first option is easier to do, how should I set it up? How do I externally power the servos from the elyQ ? Do I use a y servo connector, and cut the power feed from the servo?

    Any help appreciated !

I would have a think about which bit can handle the 10A best and also how many wires your going to put up with.

I haven't bought a elyq yet but have been considering it for a while. Doesn't it have two sets of pins, one for the connection to the receiver and on to connect the servo to hence isolating the receiver power to the servo from the regulator power to the servo?

I would have thought the regulator would handle the distribution of the 10A better than the receiver as that what it is designed for, but this would mean a lot of wires from the receiver to the regulator for all the servos as I understand it. hmmmm! I'll have another look at the manual.

Just looked and I think the idea is the regulator goes in between the servos and the receiver. Connect your gyro & servo to the receiver as normal and your throttle if it is sensitive to high voltage as well.

Connect the elyq to the rx where you would have connected your servos. This will power the receiver with 5V and pass the servo signal through the regulator.

Connect your servos to the regulator - make sure they are the correct channels.

That should have your main servos on whatever you have programmed the regulator to and your receiver and anything directly connected to it running off 5V.

I was using one of these in my 700 last week but could not make head nor tail out of the instructions will be interested to see how people interpret the instructions. Can honestly say I have never seen such indecipherable instructions.

Not going to say how I had mine connected yet as it went in hard second flight due I believe to an issue with a brand new rx. But could of been the regulator as it was the only other new electrical component on the heli. As the 700 will be back in the air this weekend I am keen to ensure what I am doing is correct!

            Thanks Jiberjabber.

So basically I connect the ElyQ leads from the 3 ccpm Rx channels to the ElyQ, in the 5V section (thats not marked !). Then connect the servos to the 6V (programmable) section of the regulator in the correct place. The Rx is now powered via the 5v input side of the regulator, and needs no power input into the reciever in the normal place.

Therefore even though the Rx is sending 5V the Regulator will replace it with whatever it is programmed for (in my case 6v), and supply up to 10A of power.

Thanks alot, it sure is good to have an electronics expert as part of the community!

Strange why they only give 3 leads for it when there are 5 channels, and make the remote switch almost unmountable on a heli. By the way synergyn9 if you figure out how best to mount the remote switch, do let me know. Tie wraps slip off, and the velcroe doesn't seem enough.

Yes Oliver, that's my take on how it should be wired. I have drawn a diagram, but as this PC is Linux based and I didn't have visio on here I hope it makes sence. LOL

Yeah, thanks for the confirmation, that's how I had mine setup

On the 700, I just put the external switch in the switch hole in the frames? What heli are you fitting to?

I am flying a 700. There is a spot to fit it to, but it will be needed by the carbsmart servo. Even if I did put it there I don't know how I would secure it there.

Your looking in the wrong place! The hole your talking about on the carbon strengthener is indeed for the carb smart servo. But on the main frames themselves there is a switch slot either side, shaped like this

                      ===00000===

It is on the main frames above the engine, easily missed I guess
