  • Best 700 servos?

Hi guys, just wondering what your opinion of the best servos that can be purchased for the Trex 700? Also what do you think of the JR DS8915's for those that have used them? I have always used Futaba servos so have'nt much knowledge of the JR gear.
    Cheers

I had JR 8915's in my Vibe 90 and now have moved them over to my 700. Great servo IMO. Fast and torquey

An option to consider are the Align DS610 servos.
I'm running them in my 700 currently and they are very fast and powerful.

        Flys nice

I was looking at the Align servos on the Fastlad stand at the 3D champs. Fast, torquey and about half the price of a JR - Very impressed and was tempted.
But then, do you get what you pay for...?

Right ive purchased the DS 8195'S (or ordered them rather)... quite impressed at the performance rated at even 4.8 volts. Was thinking about the Align servos but i might as well go the whole hog on this one and get what is know. So far ive ordered TRex 700 kit, the new OS 91 engine, a spartan 760 and BL251 servo, 3 x DS 8195's and a Spektrun AR7000. Im planning on getting a Hatori 939 pipe and Maniac blades once its all built. Only problem i have now is the power system. Anyone recommend anything? I did look at the 5.1 duralite regulator and the compact FlightPower 3200 RX lipo at fastlads. Would these be okay or do yaz recommend something else. Remember im not a full on 3D'er here and am only at the practising hovering inverted stage. So dont think i will be going 8 volts or anything lol Would be nice to have that option though i suppose.
            Cheers

Either that or are we paying for the name? Oh the dilemas we face!

                Hi

                {But then, do you get what you pay for...?}

So you can buy a servo for 10 Pounds or 100 Pounds, is it possible that the quality of motor and gears used can make that much of a differnce to the price!!!!!?
I have a feeling I know the answer but don't get me started or we will get on to why a reciever costs so much!

Not necessarily motors and gears but also maybe closer tolerance components and circuitry design too.
I'm not knocking Align directly - I have and love their helis although they do seem to have off days with swash plates and some electronics.
I saw RobGTs 700 at the weekend and was very impressed with it (and his flying). I would be interested to see how they (servos) fare in time.
                  Cheers, Lee.

Go for the align reg, just fit a higher capacity battery, works really well on mine.

I've fitted the FlightPower 8A voltage reg on my 700. It has two inputs (from the battery) and two outputs (to the receiver) for added safety. I use a FlightPower "receiver lipo" with the two output leads. I think it's a 2500mAh. I've also fitted a SwitchGlo on a spare channel. What a superb gadget!!!

I was thinking about it but im still unsure if i trust Align electronics. I do have them on my knight 3D and also the 600 NSP and i havent had any problems mind. Ive heard horror stories though. Just not sure id like one in a 90 size machine. I think it deserves something better and since im not scrimping on anything else i might as well not on this.

Same as the FlightTech one. I think DualSky had it before FlightTech.

Fine adjustment on the output voltage so you can set it very accurately. I also think the regulator is a pass through linear design, meaning that if the battery voltage falls below the set output voltage it will not drop out but will just pass the battery voltage through.

These were exactly my thoughts when I was building my 700. That's why I went for the FlightPower reg with the dual input and output.
